Randy Savage

Randy Savage
Well...This is awkward...[Open] 7562wTNm
Randy walked slowly down the streets of Mock Island as people passed her on both sides. And by people, she of course meant pirates! It wasn't that Randy was uncomfortable around most pirates. Its just that sometimes she had a hard time reconciling all the different parts of her life together into one person. On the one hand, would someone recognize her as the daughter of the Dread Pirate Savage? Their bloodline hair was a dead give away if someone knew enough care. Or cared enough to know. Her hair continued to dance and kick around the fram of her face. Her emotions were a mix of unease and a splash of excitement and it certainly showed in the jerky motions her hair went through. On the other hand, Randy certainly was a bounty hunter. There were so many pirates around her she wasn't quite sure if she should be excited or worried! She didn't recognize a lot of faces but it was clear that there were some big timers around. When they approached by train, Randy thought that from a distance it looked like a resort town. Now that she was walking around though that obviously wasn't the case. Seeing it from a distance there had been a slight twinge of boredom that worried her. Being up close and personal made it clear this trip would be anything but boring.

Her outfit of choice was pretty simple today; casual shoes with high socks, a skirt, a button up shirt, and her jacket were all she wore into town. She looked a little more touristy and a little less battle ready than she normally would. The setting of the town had taken her off guard. She was more than capable of fighting if necessary but figured she'd keep the whole situation on the chill side for now. She kept her hands in her pockets and observed pirates as she passed. Her mind worked as she attempted to think of ways she could capture a pirate while here. Any pirate at all really. It'd be no easy feat. Even if she did manage to snag one, she would then have to figure out how to get them off of the island. And that's all without raising the suspicions of other pirates in the area. If there was one thing Randy was certain of, that'd be that other pirates wouldn't let one of their own just get drug off to the pillory. A long sigh escaped her lips. There were so many things on her mind right now. It seemed the situation of capturing a pirate would be an impossible one. The whole idea of this island was fluctuating from being a great opportunity to an awful one. Randy put her arms up and laced her fingers over the top of her head--her hair dancing around her arms.

"Seems like the best thing would be to just observe the place. Maybe there's a pirate here everyone else hates so much they wouldn't care if he got drug off. Either that, or see if Devlin had any smart ideas..."

Pfft! Just thinking that almost made her laugh. Devlin. Ideas. What a ridiculous thing to think would happen. She shook the idea from her head as she continued to make her way through the town. It was actually surprising how amiable most the people around her seemed to be behaving. It was easy to, whenever you're constantly hunting and fighting pirates, to sometimes forget that they're real people capable of carrying themselves as such. They laugh, joked, and teased, pushing each other around. Sure, they were certainly all armed to the teeth with guns, swords, and every other manner of pointy object, but if you could look past all that they almost look like normal people. For a moment, Randy thought of the island she grew up on. She supposed they were all real people. She had went years without ever even imagining any of them were pirates--and they had been the whole time. It was a sobering thought; the realization that everyone is a real person. Some times at least. That pirate you turn over to the marines then never hear from again. That marine you shoot in the gut and kick overboard. They all had full lives before that moment. And would continue to exist after that moment as well. It was scarily easy to forget that sometimes.

Fine.

Randy thought begrudgingly to herself and no one else in particular. For now, she was making the decision that she'd behave while in Mock Town. She wouldn't scheme on how to fight these people were capture one when they weren't paying attention. They were all real people here and they were among friends, enjoying life. It just didn't feel right to her to interrupt that. At least not at the moment. Who knows, maybe someone would say something to piss her off later but for now she would behave and play nice. She wandered farther into the town and eyed up the amenities. There was your ever-present tavern, some restaurants, a few hotels, and even a few places that even looked like homes. The streets were filled with street side markets; people were selling weapons, bullets, food, newspapers, and some people were even selling their services like hired guns. Randy casually picked up one of the papers as she walked past a stand and thumbed through it. She was going to have to figure out something to do--Randy always had a problem knowing how to behave when she wasn't in a fight. She supposed there was no better time to practice than the present.

{Fixed the post to give us a bit more set up to work with later. Figured no one else posted yet anyways.}

Devlin felt as if he was child in a candy store as he walked around Mock Town -- albeit it a child with no money to buy candy. You see, although he was surrounded by very tasty looking bounties he wasn’t able to do anything about it. It wasn’t exactly that he was aware he couldn’t take on an entire town full of pirates, but rather that he understood that this town relied on the pirate traffic. If he caused a scene and scared pirates away from the town then the economy of Mock would surly suffer for it. He didn’t care too much about messing with pirates, but he did care a great deal about messing with people’s livelihoods. Not that he understood why people would willingly rely on such people…. But he wasn’t one to judge.

What did surprise him was Randy. She had even less self-control then he did. How she was managing to not start a fight every few steps was beyond him, but obviously she hadn’t done so yet. He didn’t hear any grown men crying for their mothers, so Randy must have been behaving. Either that, or she was being quiet with her beatings. He wasn’t really sure. What he did know was that Randy was a big girl, and she could handle herself long enough for him to sneak off on his own for a bit. It didn’t matter how full of pirates and bounties this place was; he was hungry, and he could smell cake from two islands over. His cake senses were on fire now. It was close.

Stumbling his way through the streets Devlin found his way into a bakery, or what he called it -- ‘Heaven’. All around him was a myriad of sugar and baked goods. His childish enthusiasm was startling to the pudgy older man at the counter.  Devlin was a tall man, six foot tall at least, and broad to boot. He also had a massive iron sword strapped to his back, which even in a town of pirates was strange. His size, build, and sword would have normally made him look fairly intimidating -- if it wasn’t for the fact that he practically had drool running down to his green tee-shirt. Devlin was already too memorized by the sight of a triple decker carrot cake to even notice that the shopkeeper was staring at him in startled confusion.

“C-Can I help you today sir?” The shopkeeper said trying to take control of the situation. He was used to dealing with criminals and assholes. Devlin was neither of these things, more or less, and it was strange seeing someone who didn’t seem to be at least trying to look mean. In a town of pirates, all of them trying to show off and make a name for themselves, it was what you should expect. It was why the shopkeeper was now aware that he wasn’t dealing with a regular pirate. This man in front of him was something different entirely. What he didn’t know yet. Just different.

Devlin lifted his head up when the shopkeeper addressed him. For a second, he had forgotten where he was, and had drifted away into sugary dreams. Devlin glided to the counter to meet the baker, pulling out his wallet as he did.

“How much for the carrot cake…? And those doughnuts there…? Are those bonbons?” Devlin seemed to lose his train of thought just as quick as his eyes moved from item to item. The baker took his order with a bit of concern, and he didn’t know exactly why. Having lived in Mock for so long he was used to seeing all kinds of strange people come through here, and had seen a lot of people leave. Sometimes back in their ships and off to sea, sometimes in coffins and in to the ground. This was a dangerous place to be in if you were a fool. He definitely thought Devlin was that, but he wasn't normally concerned for fools. Yet he was concerned. Maybe it was the enthusiasm the silver haired man had showed for his bakery, maybe it was the way he politely said thank you after the baker took each item of his order and placed it in boxes, maybe it was something else he couldn’t see, but he didn’t want to see Devlin get himself hurt here. He had to say something.

Devlin placed the money for his rather large order down on the counter, and started to scoop up his prize. He couldn’t wait to shovel all this cake and goodies into his mouth. He nodded thank you one more time before turning to the door, only to be stopped by the shopkeeper right before he pushed it open.

“Sir please, if I may. I appreciate the business, and the enthusiasm, but you need to be careful. Pleases, thank yous and big smiles are all very nice to see around here…. But this is a town of scoundrels. Some might see it as a sign of weakness, and these people eat the weak alive. Look I’m just… ARE YOU EVEN LISTENING TO ME?” The shopkeepers heart felt warning was cut short when he realized Devlin had managed to open the box with the carrot cake inside and was eating out of it like a horse on a troth. He pushed Devlin out of his shop, half in rage, half in embarrassment. As Devlin slid out of the shop, he was able to lift his cake filled face from the box long enough to say, “Thanks old man!”.

The baker grumbled watching Devlin stumble away. Some people just were not worth saving. Still, he hoped he didn’t get himself hurt that bad out there.
