The sun had now set completely, and Sever was walking through the market district of the castle town towards the upper class neighborhood where he had been informed that the “Young Miss” lived. He merely wanted to scope out the situation and possibly get a glimpse at what kind of operation the supposed “she” was running. As he came into the open area of the market place however, he could hear a large amount of footsteps approaching from his left side. He looked over to the street in that direction and saw a group of about ten armed guards heading his way. They didn’t look happy, and they all started shouting and pointing when they saw Sever. After having seen this, Sever broke into a full sprint in the opposite direction. He had been around the block enough to know that those were not good signs and that he wouldn’t want to be caught by the guards at the moment. He had just gotten into town, and he could only assume that the stupid punk he had mutilated earlier had told the guards of his presence and earlier assault on him before perishing or being saved from the brink of death; Sever would likely never be sure. Nonetheless though, he had some running to do if he wanted to maintain some semblance of inconspicuousness; though that might already be in vain.

Sever continued running down the street until he found a corner he was able to turn on. He then bolted around the side of the building and continued onward, hoping to circle around and lose them, but he could still hear them hot on his tail. He cursed when he heard them turning the corner before he’d been able to get out of sight, and he resolved to pick up his pace a bit. If he was caught now, not only would he be prevented from continuing his business, but he might be recognized as a member of the new pirate crew Heaven’s Gear. Sever certainly didn’t want to think of the consequences of that, so he kept running as fast as he could muster. “Get back here!” Shouted one of the guards as they pursued him. “Give yourself up!” Another barked, holding up a wooden baton. As he ran, despite the situation Sever had to note the rather primitive weapons these men were using, and wondered if that was yet another example of the Briss Kingdom’s lack of prosperity. It was to his advantage though, as thus far he hadn’t been shot at which likely would have resulted in plenty of unpleasantness. Still, Sever knew he couldn’t keep running indefinitely and eventually he would have to find a way to lose these men.

As Sever bolted around another corner, he started to recognize things from when he had arrived in the Briss Kingdom some days ago. He also recognized that the guard outpost was very near his current location, and that it would be highly unlikely that they would look for Sever beneath their own noses. So, with that thought in mind, Sever began making his way over to where he remembered the outpost being. The guards were still hot on his tail, but he had been around the city enough to know which alleyway to dart in so that he’d have enough time to sneak into the building he was after before the guards regained sight of him. Sever was quite lucky that none of the guards were carrying firearms or anything of that sort, otherwise heading into a long alleyway with no room to maneuver would have been suicide. That not being the case however, Sever was able to sprint away and to the door of the guard outpost where he quickly threw open the unlocked door and darted inside.

Once he had entered, Sever quickly realized that he was not alone in the small front room of the guard outpost. An older looking man in the same uniform as the others who had been chasing him stood up and looked at Sever with an unamused expression on his face. “What are you doing in here? What’s the meaning of this?” He asked urgently, having no time for nonsense apparently. Sever formulated a lie on the spot, something he was quite used to, and replied in a panicked tone. “Please, you’ve gotta help me. There’s some angry looking guys out there chasing me.” He said as if he were truly distressed. The older guard looked at him in a concerned fashion and headed over to the door in a hurried manner, he then opened it up and headed outside to have a look around. “Stay in here. I’ll check it out.” He said, closing the door behind him. Sever could only smirk and let out a soft chuckle as he headed in to see what he could loot before the old man realized the ones chasing him were the guards.

Sever had been around enough guard stations to know that they generally kept things like money and contraband in a locked room or chest somewhere near the back, and he found just such a room within a few seconds of beginning his search. Once there, he quickly drew the Ruhig Dorn and thrust the blade into the lock, twisting it and shattering the fragile metals that barred his entrance. Sure enough, after opening the now unlocked door Sever found a room that had various illegal items that had likely been confiscated and left for a higher official to pick through once he had the time. In the room, there were several bags of what Sever recognized as popular street drugs and he shoved them in his pockets as he quickly scanned the room for anything else of value. He spotted a locked briefcase in the near corner of the room, and after shaking it around a bit he realized that there was little doubt it was a moderate amount of beli. A grin came over Sever’s face as he headed out of the room, but it quickly turned to one of focus and hurried thoughts as he heard people rushing through the front door of the outpost. The kind elderly man from before had likely been informed the man he was helping was actually a wanted criminal, and they were all probably coming in to continue their pursuit.

Sever certainly didn’t want to stick around for that, and he started heading towards the back of the outpost with his briefcase in hand and drugs in his pocket. There was no back door in the outpost unfortunately, so Sever had to look for another exit. Luckily, he noticed that there was a window large enough for him to squeeze through back there, and after hopping up onto the table he lunged through it, breaking the glass and cutting himself up a bit in the process. Luckily, he made it through with just a few minor nicks and none of the drugs he had snatched were torn open in his pockets. He tumbled out into the alleyway through the window and listened as the guards ran back there to see exactly what had happened. Before they could make it there to spot him though, Sever had already began sprinting away to find a place to hide out for a while where he could patch himself up and find a place to stash the money he had just taken. The drugs might be a nice peace offering to the “Young Miss” later, so he’d keep those on his person.
