Sever Lugen

Pirates

Sever Lugen
As Sever made his way out onto the street, his breath labored and his stomach aching with intense pain, he could see remnants of Marine resistance and a large amount of fish men still running rampant. Not sore of the best plan of action, Sever started making his way stealthily around, hoping to find one of the two men he had met up with before so that they could take on the brunt of the work while he took a rest. With noticeable effort, he made his way across the street and into another alley in the direction he thought he had seen the winged man fly off. There was no one in the alley, and Sever was relieved to hear a group of fish men rush past behind him through the streets, and he continued forward while remaining wary of his surroundings. He was still feeling tired, but there wasn't much to do for it in a chaotic situation like this so he just had to press on.

Once he came out of the alleyway, Sever found himself in the courtyard of the town, directly below the giant clock tower that resided in the center. There, a lone Marine looked to be taking on about a eight fish men. He looked to be heavily injured, but he still had all of his opponent's wary of him. Sever wondered how one man could take on so many of this super human beasts by himself, and he watched from behind a market stand as the group continued to fight. The encounter was brutal, and the fish men surrounded him, lunging in one after another and trying to take a bite out of the lone marine. The man didn't seem to be gifing up without a fight though, and he swatted them away with powerful swings of his weapon; a powerful and heavy looking hammer. Fish men were sent flying this way and that from his mighty strikes, and one crushed a stand mere feet away from where Sever hid. Still, with one man against eight, several of the fish men were able to bite into his flesh and increase the blood pouring from his flesh. Sever was still watching as their numbers continued to dwindle however, and after a few minutes, the eight fish men had been reduced to a single eel. The lone marine was certainly on his last legs as well however, and Sever could see that he didn't have much time left unless he received medical attention quickly. The eel fish man was carrying a sword and shield, and was circling around the marine, waiting for his chance to strike. Sever realized that this might be a good opportunity to move in himself, and when the eel circled around between him and the marine he took his chances. Leaping from behind the stand, and running with quieted but strenuous breaths, Sever lunged in closer to the eel and thrust his blade into the back of his neck. He could feel resistance as the eel tried to turn back towards him, his throat now pouring blood onto the ground, and fearing a counterattack from "the rage of fish men", Sever pulled out his blade and jumped backwards, allowing the eel man to fall onto the ground in front of him.

The lone marine was now on one knee, and Sever could see that he was certainly not in any condition to be fighting. He held his hammer up with one hand and breathed heavily as he tried to remain conscious. Sever could see from the man's attire that he was no ordinary marine, and he could only imagine he was a captain or some other similar rank, especially when considering how many men he'd just defeated while sustaining such severe injuries. Flicking the blood off of his blade, Sever started to make his way towards the bloodied man. The marine looked relieved and grateful for Sever's timely assistance, and he smiled thinly at the tall pale man who approached him. Sever's expression was similarly warm, but it was entirely a facade. He walked up to the injured man, his blade still held in his right hand, and he extended his left hand for the man to grab. The man took his hand and started to get up as he spoke. "Thanks for that, I was in a real me-" The marine started to say before Sever stabbed him in the chest with his rapier and kicked him back down to the ground. "You're very welcome." He replied to the now dying man. Sever then wiped his hand off on his jacket before thrusting his blade into the man's throat, ending his life for good and heading off out of the courtyard. He was still feeling quite exhausted, but he imagined most of the enemy should also be quite spent at this point, and if he continued to prey on the injured and weak he would probably be able to make it through the disaster without incident, and once all of the marines and fish men were gone, looting the businesses and banks of the town would be little more than child's play. Even if he couldn't start any business in this town, as long as he made a profit the methods were of little concern to Sever.

With Linedwell's flames making impact against the multiple fishmen, most of them began to fall back. Not so much because of the damage that had been done as a result of the attack, but because of the fact that they didn't understand what happened. Most in these situations would have been confused about how flames would randomly appeared after the use of a sword swing and then disappeared as quickly as they'd appeared. Most abilities such as these were used through Devil Fruits, but a sword with an ability to use a technique like this would have obviously given opponents a moment of pause. In spite of this, there were a few fishmen that weren't as intimidated by this technique as the others, and they continued to rush towards him with their weapons drawn.

With the amount of opponents making their way towards him, Linedwell knew that in spite of his obvious speed advantage he'd need a bit more than that when it came fighting off so many opponents from multiple directions. With a deep sigh, Linedwell knew he'd need to make use of a technique that he hadn't exactly used yet. The technique he had in mind was one that Linedwell had only concocted in his mind, but he knew that its upsides would help him immensely. The strain it would put on him, however, could potentially leave him in a worse situation. Before he could think about the downsides any further, Linedwell decided to act. After unsheathing his blade, Linedwell ran his left hand quickly across it, coating it in his blood. He could feel Treachery vibrate as he did so, as if the blood was in some way nourishing it - but he tried his best to keep this out of mind. With the blood now coating his sword, the time in which he'd be able to sheathe and unsheathe would be instant, allowing his already impressive speed to be supplemented.

Many of the fishmen seemed confused as to why he would have injured himself in the middle of combat, but most seemed to rejoice. To them it appeared their opponent was simply making things easier for them. The force of ten fishmen continued forward until they now all circled Linedwell at a distance of about five meters. They all appeared to be sizing him up before four of them rushed him from the front. Yet, once they reached a distance of about a meter from Linedwell's position, they all seemed to slump to the ground - each of them either disemboweled or decapitated.

The shocked gasps of those still surrounding Linedwell were heard, and in response, Linedwell turned to face them, causing them to step back a bit. They were still at a loss when it came to deciphering what had just occurred. To them, Linedwell hadn't taken any actions whatsoever, yet, their allies were now dead on the ground.  The remaining six fishmen didn't exactly seem as though they'd be going on the offensive any time soon, yet, before Linedwell could act he could hear what sounded like a whistling sound before a sharp, intense pain was felt in his right shoulder.  Now resting in his shoulder, there was a metallic spike of some sort, and right now it was affecting his ability to draw his sword without dealing with an intense amount of pain.

"NOW! KILL HIM NOW!"

As Linedwell looked up, he could see where this voice was coming from. A squid-like merman was now hurtling through the air towards his current position, but before he could get any closer, Linedwell managed to send an X-like vacuum of air in the merman's direction. With his position in the air, there weren't many options for him when it came to evasion, thus, he simply had to attempt to block the attack and hope for the best...and the "best" wasn't enough. With the attack landing, the squid merman was downed, but that still left six other merman in front of Linedwell that had just found their second-wind in the form of Linedwell's recovery.

Reaching up, Linedwell grabbed hold of the spike with his left hand began to tug at it, attempting to gain an idea of exactly how deep it was embedded in his shoulder. The spike itself had worked itself in pretty deep, and it was obvious that it would affect his mobility when it came to sheathing and unsheathing his blade if it stayed in. Taking in a deep breath, Linedwell tugged hard at the spike and managed to pull it out completely. The fact he'd taken it out meant that it was likely there'd be a large amount of bleeding, but the threat of not being able to fight anymore was the bigger threat.

While Linedwell did all of this, the others had all begun to close the gap between themselves and Linedwell, and once again reached a distance of about a meter in front of him. With the spike withdrawn from his wound, he now had the ability the draw his blade instantly - and what had occurred previously to his last four opponents had occurred again...this time with six dead fishmen lying at his feet.

The celebration of this win was short lived though, as Linedwell soon fell to one knee. His breathing was now extremely stressed and his body now felt as though it weighed tons. He wasn't sure how much longer he'd be able to hold out in a battle such as this one. His abilities weren't those that were conducive to fighting in such an open manner, as his style was one that focused on stealth and assassination. The stress he was putting on his body now was immense, and his injuries weren't helping at all. The only thing he could hope is that the others would be able to take out a few more of these enemies and that he'd be able to rest for a few moments before jumping back into the fray, but with one glance around town and noticing that almost every building seemed to be engulfed in flames, he wasn't sure how long he'd actually be able to rest here.

Isaac Taylor
Isaac saw, as he reloaded his dual pistols, the impacts the men were having on the battle. He saw the palm faced man, as he watched a Marine Captain diminish the Fishmen numbers before the man acted, taking out the last Fishman and the weakened Marine Captain. It wasn't entirely honourable but, in a war, honour was the least of your worries, and so Isaac mentally commended his current ally for his wit and intellgience in the heat of battle. As much as his eagerness to kill everything for money had initially annoyed Isaac, the Skypiean had to admit the pale faced man was smart, witty, and knew how to survive in a warzone, and that was something not many people could do.

Isaac then looked to the swordsman, a man who's name he still didn't know, and saw him coat his sword in blood, a strange maneuver but one which Isaac knew he wouldn't do without cause and reason. This man was as intelligent as the other when it came to combat, neither of them did anything reckless for the sake of doing it, everything was done for a reason, and that reason was made clear when Isaac saw the man's next attack. It was just a simple attack, just like any of his normal attacks, but the speed it moved at was near instantaneous, it had been almost too fast for Isaac to see. He felt sorry for the Fishmen honestly, they were dead well before they knew what was happening, but then the swordsman was gravely wounded by the Squid Fishman, the other commander Isaac had spotted. The squid died, along with his six remaining brothers, leaving no more Fishmen alive, only some Marines, and that was where Isaac came in.

Gazing over, he saw six Marines in total, all clumped together, all in triumph at their victory, despite not having earned any of it. Four of them looked like normal grunts, while two of them, both taller, carrying larger weapons and commanding over the four, were clearly more than that. Likely Captain's like the one the pale faced man had killed, but that made no difference to the Skypiean. For the final time in this fight, Isaac loaded his two pistols, and flew down towards just above the clump where the men were. The all saw him, and began to fire at him, but Isaac was quicker, he had the advantage, as he fired a single shot down towards the group, before closing his eyes momentarily, allowing the bullet's effects to take hold of the men's sight. However, one of them was lucky, one of the Captain's had shielded his eyes, and had shot at Isaac while Isaa'c own eyes were closed. Isaac felt a bullet embed itself in his shoulder, and slumped to the ground in pain. The Captain moved towards him and, when he was within mere inches of Isaac, raised his greatsword weapon above his head, only to be met with a bullet right between the eyes, as he fell back due to the weapon's weight. One gun was empty, he had two shots left, and five enemies, which meant today he would get to try out something a little different.

Running towards the give blinded enemies, his breathing difficult, he fired his two remaining bullets at two of the grunts, before holstering his guns, both of which were now empty. He now had three enemies left to deal with: two grunts and a captain. Picking up the swords dropped by the men in their blindness, Isaac stabbed both of the grunts with their own blades. It wasn't a smooth lunge by any means, as Isaac wasn't a swordsman, but he knew where a man's heart would be, and that seemed to get the job done, which left the last captain, who had caught onto the fact that Isaac was killing the men while they could not see. Hearing Isaac's heavy breaths, the man swung his own weapon, a large dual handed mace, at Isaac, as it connected with Isaac's jaw, breaking it and causing blood to pour out of his mouth. Spitting out the excess blood, Isaac stopped for a moment, and waited for the next strike. There was something he had heard about but never yet tried it, and now felt like a good time. He could no longer speak for the moment, but the man heard the breaths in the same location and swung again, this time for his waist. The man's face turned to surprise when his weapon passed straight through Isaac, the momentum causing the man to fall over, which is when Isaac attacked, mounting the man and stopping him from reaching his weapon. Isaac's hands, now covered in smoke, gripped the man's neck and Isaac squeezed. The man flailed, trying to hit Isaac, but none of his attacks connected and, as the last of his breaths left his lungs, Isaac left him, dead by stragulation. Isaac smiled, despite the pain, before flying, as it was easier than walking, back to where the other two men were.

Man, never thought I'd ever strangle someone. Some Marksman I am.

Sever Lugen
Sever walked out of the marketplace, still breathing rather heavily and leaning on the walls of buildings for support. Several fires blazed around him, and he hoped that there would still be things left to loot by the time all of this fighting was over with. Sweat dripped from his brow as he kept an eye out for anyone hostile, or either of the two he had met up with earlier. The streets were mostly empty at this point however, aside from the corpses and rubble that littered the area. Sever had to look away from some of the more gruesome remains, and he wondered what could have started this large conflict in the first place. He didn't have much time to stand and wonder however, and he continued making his way down the street while drawing as little attention as possible.

Sever thought he heard sounds of battle a few streets over, and he started to make his way towards that direction. While getting caught up in the battle wasn't on his list of priorities, it would be a good idea to see exactly which faction was winning this dispute so he could better plan his course of action. If it was just straggling fish men looting the town it would be much easier to make his way to the banks and shops to take some well deserved beli for himself, but the marines might make things a bit more difficult. So, hoping to find some amphibian attackers rather than law enforcement, Sever stealthily edged through the ruined city streets towards the conflict. As he drew closer, another sound made itself apparent to him. Urgent orders being barked out and hurried reports could be heard underneath the raging fires and sounds of battle, and Sever was just close enough to do some eavesdropping. "Headquarters? The fish men have all been eliminated, but there's another group here causing mayhem. They've been killing the enemy and our own men indiscriminately. Requesting immediate-" Said one of the marines into a Den Den Mushi, as Sever tried to make his way past them unnoticed. He had just about made his way across the street into another alley when he heard the marines start firing their weapons. He sped up, thinking that they were firing at him, but still wondering why, until he realized the bullets were being shot in the other direction. For just a moment he saw the red haired man from before flying down at them, and then his vision went white. He stumbled blindly towards where he remembered the alley being and tried to stay out of sight as he continued to hear the sound of gunfire behind him. After a few moments though, the only sounds he heard were those of a man choking violently before some muttering that he couldn't understand.

Once Sever's vision returned, he continued making his way down the alley, assuming that the red haired man would be able to handle himself. Once he exited, he saw the dark haired man from before kneeling down and breathing heavily. Surrounding him, there was what looked to be at least a dozen corpses, fish man and marine alike, all violently mutilated through decapitation, disembowelment, or some other massive injury. Sever let out two short whistles to emphasize how impressed he was as he walked towards the dark haired man. "Did you do all this?" He asked incredulously, waving his hand around to point out what he was referring to. Sever couldn't imagine that it could have been all him, but he couldn't imagine that the marines or even the fish men were capable of such brutal massacre.

After a moment, the red haired man landed next to them once, also injured, but certainly looking much better than the rest of the city. Sever hadn't seen much of what he had done, but he could only imagine that a winged man armed with pistols and a rifle would be at highly capable in combat. "Surprising that we all made it out, I have to say." Sever said matter of factly, placing his blade back in the sheathe and brushing some of the ash off of his coat. Flames still raged around the courtyard, and the temperature was hardly comfortable as he stood before the two men, somewhat astounded that they had all made it out of the crisis alive.

Linedwell wasn't entirely sure of what occured after he'd taken a knee, or what the current status of the other two he teamed up with were, but one thing he knew is that he needed to get out of this place soon. Though a part of him fought in defense of this place, he knew when something was a lost cause. With his breathing still extremely stressed he wasn't sure if he'd be able to stand up, let alone escape this place before Marine reinforcements arrived, but he knew he wasn't meant to die in a place like this. With a deep breath, Linedwell forced himself back up onto his feet. He was a bit wobbly a first, but he managed to press his scabbard into the dirt and use it as a makeshift cane.

As he'd just begun to recover he noticed two figures moving towards him. He let out a slight sigh, as his initial assumption was that there were still enemies that hadn't been dealt with. He wasn't sure if he could deal with any other opponents in his current state, but if he'd fight regardless of that, as it would likely matter very little to the opponent if Linedwell was well enough to fight or not. Soon enough though, Linedwell found himself breathing a sigh of relief as he realized who the two silhouettes in the distance belonged to. There wasn't much time left on this island before it was completely engulfed in flames and even more Marines arrived to assist those that were supposed to be in battle, if they were going to leave it needed to be now. Linedwell began to walk towards the direction of the harbor, waving a hand back in the direction for them to follow him. The only method of transportation that he currently had was a row boat, but at this point beggars couldn't exactly be choosers. Once the two males had caught up with him, Linedwell began to speak to them about something he'd been thinking about during this entire battle.

"I have a proposition for the both of you..."

Both of these men seemed to be extremely capable...maybe in pooling their efforts together, they'd be able to make a few large strides that could net all of them a bit of profit.
