Qilin awoke to darkness, but smelled the mustiness which was the boy's dorm and didn't panic. He was in his bed sprawled as normal along his length, hearing the occasional snore down the row. The beds were pushed up against each other like normal, with just enough space between them to weave between the maze of them to the bathroom which is what he did, staggering in the dark by feel, running his shins against blankets while he rubbed his eyes. He wore only the pj bottoms they gave them, hating the feel of a shirt when he slept; the few times he had tried he had woken with lines across his body which irritated him for hours and he didn't need that, not to mention how bad he slept when they got tangled around him. The cold floor of the community restroom space woke up his feet with images of hours earlier and the naked towel fight he had missed. Wincing at some of the hits some had taken with the wet towel ends (a sharp snap which stung as he remembered) he chuckled at some of the yelps as he made his way to the sinks, not needing lights at all even in the pitch black darkness.

It was funny; he couldn't see his hand in front of him, but the mirror's sight told him how ruffled his hair was and how sleepy he really looked without opening his eyes. He poured water and waited for it to clear of rust for a minute, and then dipped two hands in the frigid water and splashed it in his face, wiping his eyes in particular. It took less than half a second to wake up with that, the icy water making his face burn with reaction at the suddenness. What was left of the dream was already fading, but left him very confused. For some reason it was almost like he was dreaming an old nature show they had to watch in class on the old projection screen, that ancient thing which the school wouldn't replace. Most of his classmates would have fallen asleep about half way through so why was he dreaming about one, although not one he had seen from the animals perspective it was true. He tried to think back over the day and think about animals; nope, no clues there. He knew of ferrets but couldn't remember ever seeing one except in a photo before and it had looked much larger than this one. A baby ferret? Didn't they stay with their mother or something? Or was it like him, lost and alone.
Yeah that was it, it felt right.

And now he couldn't even remember half of what he had just seen, only that it was about a ferret and it had been caught. Which was wrong of course, wild animals should be left alone in their own habitat, not ripped away from all that felt familiar and safe. Would he panic if that happened to him? Of course, anyone would. but where did the ferrets that were sold as pets come from? The wild or were they raised? Not that he knew anything about how animals were raised but he assumed you couldn't use the ferret as a pet around kids. So why take it after all that? He felt a chill as he remembered what one teacher had told them about that naturalist groups which objected because some companies tested on animals their products before giving them to the market to sell. They wouldn't need tame animals if they were just shooting them up with drugs and stuff.

Qilin stepped to the toilet and got one of the paper covers which had been set aside for little Timmy who was allergic to almost everything, poor kid. One of these days he was going to die suddenly and everyone would be sorry but not very surprised either. But the sheets meant Qilin didn't have to read the toilet seat and for that he was truly grateful for little Timmy's allergies. When he was done he stepped back to the mirror and washed his hands before wondering what time it was. There were few windows in the building and fewer clocks, but he had learned to compensate. Stepping back into the dorm he listened this time to what his feet told him which he had ignored earlier. The door had been opened and the night man had checked beds already twice, which meant it must be close to dawn. He glanced at the end of the hall for the one small window he often used to escape this place he had been regulated to and judged the light on it. Dawn couldn't be far away actually, might as well use the hot water now while he could.

Making his way back through the beds, he found his and bent down painfully between the beds trying not to jostle them or make much noise. He grabbed his towel off his locker top and the underwear which he had left out and moved more confidently between the beds back to the restroom. Turning right this time he made his way to the far end showers, the ones where the noise would be least likely to filter out to the sleepers, and chose a stall, hanging his stuff on the hook. Pulling off the bottom he tossed them on the last hook and leaned in, turning on the water careful not to get splashed. While the water ran, he did a few push-ups on the floor, a few chin ups on the shower rod (which was set in stone it being a very old building), and a few stretches of his hams against the wall; it helped his body wake up and was good for him. Now he reached in and felt the water, snatched his hand away, and adjusted the knob; way too freaking hot! It took another six adjustments before it wasn't either totally scalding or freezing cold or when he had settled on mildly uncomfortable he stepped in.

Soap and shampoo were like everything here in bulk and the huge bottles of the liquid stuff were hung on the walls of the stalls. He did his hair first with shampoo, working hard to get a bubble. The stuff was extra cheap and barely did a good job and getting any lather was a challenge, but one he set himself every time to see if a bubble would be possible this time and leaning on the shower wall for sight until he could see one form. Successful in at least one small part of his life, he used the rest of the shampoo on his chest, under arms (as he hoped it cut down the smell at least some), and crotch before going for the soap itself. If he didn't smell clean, he would be sent back before breakfast and that was one huge pain in the butt so he overdid it every time now just to be sure. Did ferrets bath? The question in his mind caught him off guard and he stopped, one foot up on the wall so he could wash his lower legs and leaning forward, halted in mid movement. What an odd thought... But a good one. Did they lick themselves like cats, roll in dirt like horses, or actually get in running water? Puzzled, it was a moment before he gave up and went back to his scrub down before the water started to change again.

And it almost did change to another temp before he got done rinsing, running a finger over his teeth since he had forgotten his toothbrush in the shower again. Cups in a boy's dorm were not to be trusted and keeping them out of sight when you had one was important, one of those little things girls didn't have to think of. Mildly jealous of the freedom not to have to guard your every scrap, Qilin stepped to the curtain side and shut off the water, leaning against the wall while the water rinsed away running down his body in a hurry to escape like little ants. He stayed there air drying at least two minutes, feeling it was better for the water to go off somewhere else then into his towel and then got his towel to begin a very thorough rub down of all his parts and places, hating the sticky feeling of clothing on your skin when you could do something about it. Running his hands through his hair since he didn't own a comb, he slipped into the grey underwear and undershirt provided and went out carrying his stuff.

At one point he realized he was leaving wet foot prints and stopped long enough to step on his towel and dry them off before continuing to the dorm, hearing the sounds of people waking up slowly. Quick as a wink he ferreted--- and stopped mentally as he continued on automatic, wondering why that word was in his head again. Was this going to continue all day? If so, maybe he should have had the nickname 'Ferret' instead of 'Slayer' in Fiore. With a soft laugh, Qilin began to dress for his day, wondering what other oddities might fill it up. He was to meet his female companion to take a mission this day. He would fasten the last button and leave the room to meet Concetta at the location that they agreed. He would stop at the Pub to meet the Hunt master. A gruff gentleman but eager to get the job done. It was a quick exchange and Qilin would officially receive the mission. With a handshake to seal the deal after receiving the details he would head out to see his Informant. It took him approximately 20 minutes to arrive in the immediate vicinity that she was in. His feet slowly moved across the thick vegetation in the area before speaking. “Hello love…You ready to get this job done”. He stated as he flashed her his usual warm smile.

Softly she would yawn as she laid upon the bed of the earthly materials. The leafs felt cold but wonderful against the small fur of her ears and tail as her skin of her face snuggled against it. Some people would find it rather unnatural and not lady-like to sleep in the outdoors without a proper sleeping place and stuff but she felt one with the land, nature and so forth. She knew she had to go somewhere for some quest that was to be taken and not only that, she was to meet with someone she knew since she was a child, Amatsu. She wasn't so sure on how it will go as she doesn't know how much he changed since then as the only other time she has seen him besides childhood was during the arena battle. She would make a small smile as her eyes opened half way to look at the sky which turned somewhat bright. Slowly getting up she would press onto the sides of the grass and stand up. She was wearing her usual single flower sandals made out of island vine of brown colored and her red kimono-dress that had linings of gold and white. She would look forward in a rather calming and lightful way while walking down the paths of the unknown even though to her it wasn't so unknown. Her mind started to spare off as she started to daydream of what may or may not happen. As she did she would wonder if she would be watching him fight like he did in the arena or would she be doing so instead or would they both be doing it? She wasn't so sure of herself as she then came across the person she needed to talk to. She talked to the person finding out about some animal that left and went away what then became a dangerous threat. She understood and started to walk away and awaited for Amatsu who she came across.

“Hello love…You ready to get this job done”.

He spoke and gave a smile. Usually to some females it would affect them so but to her, it didn't swoon her in any way. She made a soft smile towards him as her eyes looked into his, ''Afternoon, I'm ready when you are.'' she spoke with heart melting smile, her topaz firing eyes shined with the suns reflection as her raven hair with brown highlights would wind to the right with the winds pressure and breeze. Soon after a couple seconds her smile would fade as she would then look forward, thinking. ''I shall follow.'' she speak calmly as within her, smirks waiting for him. Even though she did have navigating skills it was nice to follow someone else.

So it seemed that they were going to have a briefing prior to the hunt so Qilin would make his way next to Concetta and listen to the Hunt Master as he spoke after leading her there. He would keep a nice stride as the man’s voice invaded his ears. “Preparation is the key to a successful Wild Bear hunt. Being properly equipped and having all the essentials will ensure the highest probability of you getting your Wild Bear trophy. The first step is to figure out where you’re going to hunt for your Wild Bear. Once you’ve decided on a location you’re next step will be to make sure you have the right equipment. Most likely you won’t nab a Bear on the first day, heck you might not even nab one on your first trip. So, you’ll need to allow at least a week for your hunt. This means you’ll need camping equipment and proper supplies unless you’re renting a cabin or staying in a hotel. Depending on the climate you’re hunting in the required equipment can vary. You would think with the size and strength of a Wild Bear it wouldn’t be easily scared. However, this is far from the truth! Bears just like any wild animal have a fight or flight instinct, and majority of the time an animal will choose flight. Remember, an animal’s basic instinct is to survive and they know if they are injured they can die. Heck, they can’t visit a doctor or hospital like we can. With that in mind you need to prepare yourself to be able to wait patiently and for long periods of time. You’ll need to learn how to wait in a specific position and not move. This is an art itself and takes practice something many experienced hunters will say can take years. Wild Bears may have not so good eye sight, but they can still see and they have an amazing sense of smell. This means you’ll need to take good care not to move when a Bear approaches. You’ll also need to make sure you don’t have anything scented; this includes soap, shampoo, cologne, insect repellent, etc.

You’ll also want to know about Wild Bear habits, which includes feeding, traveling and foraging so read up on your manuals…for you Pirates use your historian if ya got one. Wild Bears will visit the same feeding site often, unless they feel threatened at that location. This is why people utilize baiting stations to attract Bears to a pre-defined location. A Bear is mostly a carnivore and has the highest meat concentration diet of any wild beast I know of. Know what a Wild Bear eats and when it eats is an excellent way to determine a stalking location. So, once you locate an area you think is good for a bait station and/or waiting for a Bear you’ll need to do a few things. First, you’ll need to find the best location that gives you a full open view of the area while giving you protection from sight. You should attempt to be downwind so your scent doesn’t reach your target area. It’s a good idea to try and find an area with Wild Bear markings such as torn up logs or claw and bite marks in a tree. Finding an area a Wild Bear has visited gives you a good chance it might return. You can opt to place a bait station in this location and many others you think a Wild Bear might visit. This task means you won’t be hunting the Wild Bear that day. Instead, you’ll leave multiple bait stations and check back every day or so to see evidence of a Wild Bear being there; such as fed on food with the beasts tracks. Once you’ve gotten action at a bait station its then time to decide on what day you’ll reload the station in the morning and wait for the Wild Bear to return. Some Bears are nocturnal so you might be waiting quite a while.

When a wild Bear approaches. This is a key mPiratet; you see a Wild Bear approach the area. The first thing you do is FREEZE and make no movement. Do not reach for your weapon, you should be watching the Bear with your binoculars; never use a projectile scope as you want to make sure it’s the prey your stalking and not another hunter! You’ll want to take a few minutes to make sure it’s not a female Bear, if no cubs follow behind then it’s not a nursing young Bear. Now, you’ll want to estimate the size of the beast and try to determine if it’s rubbing or shedding to your rookies. If this appears to be the size of the Wild Bear we are looking for then you’ll want to take the shot or in you pirates case make your attack when possible. DO attack until the Bear is not looking directly at you. Do this slowly and with slow even breaths to prevent rapid movement.

So, we have that covered. Now you’ve got the Wild Bear in your sights and you’re ready to take the shot. First thing you want to do is wait for a clean vital organs shot. This is in the middle of the chest wear the lungs, heart and kidney are located. This is the humane way to put the Wild Bear down fast, if you just wound it then it will run off and you’ll never catch up to it. Remember, a vital shot won’t put it down instantly and you’ll most likely have to track it afterwards. Watch which direction it goes as even a vital kill shot might not leave a blood trail." With that said he would now go silent. Hearing an earful the pirate only understood one thing...Find Bears and kill bears. It was then that he saw one of the party members hold up a fist signaling them to stop and pointed. The hunters began climbing up there prepared elevated bait station high in the trees. Qilin instead elected to grab his hammer and that's when he heard the mightt roar. The beast was close.

Concetta looked away as she crossed her arms against her rather womanly chest. She knew that she was going to be hearing rather some information, but she wasn't ready for the huge mouthful that the guy was going to speak. Her eyes of brown topaz then cornered back to look up at Amatsu which she then started to think on what all happened though after that one time as their last meet up she didn't get to find out much. She then looked at the person in which that was going to speak.

She started to lean her head back a little as she started to doze off during to talk of this guy's story on how to go after the target. Her body started to tilt towards Amatsu which she then woke up a little as she felt herself hit against his side making her quickly and suddenly stand up straight. Her eyes looked away, hid her blush and coughed as if nothing happened. Her eyes then shot towards the guy and nodded as if she understood. She slowly walked up towards the other people to look forward and there it was, the bear. Her eyes watched as the bear then stood up, turned its head left and right to see if anyone was there making her wonder if it noticed them. Greatly it didn't as it then took it as a warning, got on its position and walked away into the trees. Concetta knew the trees well as she sleeps in the outdoors unlike most of the people. She would walk forward and ahead of them as she would follow the trail that the bear left with the paw prints. Her hand would feel the bark of the trees as to feel of any furr coming off or scratches from it. Minutes later she saw it at the water bank that had some small fish within it. ''Let's slowly go and then surprise the bear.'' one of them said. After the person spoke, the bear noticed as one of the guys would step forward stepping on a branch making it then run. Her head would turn to him with a glare making him have an uneasy smile. Slowly Concetta then turned to Amatsu in wondering on what he wanted to do...as she never really did a 'quest' or of any sort for people.

“He looked to Concetta and smiled taking her hand and leading her ahead of the group where they caught up with the leader of the hunting party. “A few clicks by the forest line a team will be waiting on you. Bring back the spoils of the hunt and you will be rewarded. Be careful however, I have lost many good hounds and men to those beasts." Qilin let out a chuckle before turning towards the forest line. “You act as if I fear death. Should it come today then so be it.” He looked at his hands before clenching them. He knew this would be nothing but another test of his strength. Even after the fight with Dojo Masters his thirst was not quenched. He needed to harm something, to watch it suffer a painful death as sends it to the great beyond. It would only be fitting if it was something that was feared in this nature. Looking up from his hands and staring off into the distance anyone would be able to feel the killing intent. Hopefully it wouldn't overwhelm the old man and spook him away. The man was spooked but not by Qilin. "BEHIND YOU!” Reacting instinctively, Qilin pushed as hard as he could off of the tree to his “right, leaping high into the air whilst turning himself to see what exactly was behind him, only to be greeted by the sight of the very Wild bear he had been hunting biting violently into the area of the tree that he had just been occupying. Had he leapt a second later, he would have found himself in the jaws of this beast. Even though it seemed that he had narrowly escaped from this creature, it appeared this beast wasn't finished with him. Right about now, the distance between this beast and Qilin was about 10 meters, and instead of closing this distance and attacking with another bite, It leapt and swatted with its massive claws. Qilin quickly tossed his hammer that continued forward and made impact on the legendary beast’s spinal column. Soon enough the Wild bear crumpled to the jungle floor and seemed to finally be dead. The remaining members of the hunting group tasked with helping against the beast soon made their way out of the trees and only about six seemed to have remained alive. He'd let these hunters worry about the transport and if they shortchanged him, he'd simply kill them all. He looked to Concetta and smiled. “See mission accomplished”

She looked and cornered her eyes at Amatsu as she felt his grasp upon her hand. She wasn't sure what was his intention, but it was probably nothing. Her eyes of topaz looked forward now as she was being led towards the group. She trusted him, for now upon this small adventure, but like all adventures and stories...they have an ending. As they both suddenly stopped one of them were talking and he spoke back to the guy as Concetta stayed silent feeling a tighter grip on her hand from his own hand. Slowly letting go the stranger was spooked and started to yell upon something being there. Quickly they seperated as she watched Amatsu make himself jump as she fell towards the opposite direction making the wild beast miss upon its attack. As she slowly got up she saw him quickly kill it, getting up and looked at her with a smile saying that it was done and goal accomplished. Nodding, ''I see that, good job.'' she spoke softly and chuckled as the adventure ended.
