Qilin had been here since yesterday he didn’t bother to go home. He rested upon the edge of a small makeshift barge that the locals had been using. The barge was being used to transport sea salts that took up about 1/3 of the space currently on the 35x19 foot flatboat made of polished wood. The containers of the sea salts were wooden crates stacked about 8ft high all filled to capacity. The young slayer himself stayed perched on the edge looking out at the large mass of water which surrounded him. He was several miles from the coast but he would be there sooner or later. He loved the water for some reason or the other it just relaxed him. This was one of the few things he adored the sea around Karate Island.

Although he was well relaxed he would never get too comfortable under any circumstances. He was worth more than his weight in beli and as always every fiber of his being was ready to spring into action. He was on the balls of his feet yet maintained perfect balance a testament to his physical training.  Eyes of a soft brown nature scanned far and wide as his natural senses stayed peaked to anything out of the ordinary. The barge had hit a few currents along the way and thus its entire body was extremely slick with the combination of salt and water hence one of the reasons Qilin stood at the edge. He had  many times almost slipped from walking at a slow pace. Even though the small 1 ½  foot area he was standing in was also wet and moderately dangerous it was however far less than the rest of the area. The water right now was calm serene yet he could see the current picking up ahead. He would have to do what he always did when that time came. Well today was the day he guessed….what day was it again?

Yea some high ranked big shot type guy was hired by the Crane’s to kill Mr. Miyagi fortunately Qilin got wind of the plan from the Crane twins notes and he was here  today to hash things out. This guy was supposed to be a big shot or high assassin or whatever they were calling these guys nowadays. He really gave two sh*ts to be honest. When this guy came he came. He heard about him from one of those tournaments they were having and he wasn’t too impressed by the performance. Though Qilin wasn’t one for underestimating his opponent. He would test the man’s natural skill and not some inflated propaganda concocted by the media to turn man into myth. Sophism could be his strongest asset and his worst enemy at times yet it kept things interesting. The high pitched squawks of various birds that snatched their prey from the sea sung away in the most disturbing of communications as he knew that somewhere His new bird friend he met on his last shindig he named Alky was in the mix flying low. He could hear his distinct audio from the rest and could probably pinpoint his exact location if he cared to though he was sure he was no more than 12 meters away. Prudence was in fact one of his strong points yet he let his location slip out to his opposition if he dared to challenge him openly. There were similar barges of the same stature and content crossing his path all the time. He was sure that whenever his opposition was ready he had full access. The austerity in which he planned on handling the situation and his opponent would be of a malicious nature however.

To Vex an individual for the singular purpose of monetary greed was puerile in its purest form.  Such esurient behavior over mundane value was only punishable by one who stood virtuous in such areas. Left appendage clung tightly to his side as wiry yet strong digits tightly clung to the hilt of an unadorned dagger that protruded its full length from behind. There was no tension at all, no stiffness of the muscles . Around this time it had gotten dark and visibility was probably half that for anyone who bothered to venture out from Qilin’s guess. Today was a good day to fight, hell it was a good day to die. Out here where no one could hear you scream and no one could ever find you. He guessed that was their plan for his sensei. That was the beautiful terror that was the sea and he loved it. He had matured so much from being on the island now it was time to see just how much. His thoughts ran rampant one foot behind the other left leg being the foremost slightly. There was no rain or other atmospheric conditions other than it being slightly cold but not even enough for one to see their own breath. Only few spots on the boat weren’t littered with salt and he took note of them all hours prior to his now fixed position.

He also took note of the thin wires running throughout the boat held in by well nailed in screws about 4 inches in elevation from the ground except in the cargo area. They were wiry but as very durable and welly secured. Seeing as how the natives would unstring them and pin them to strange wired instruments to cut the larger blocks of salt they were also extremely sharp.  Another thing that he had committed to memory. You had to be a proper sailor or deckhand to really know how to navigate your way around these things and each one was different so they had to know that particular barge inside and out. After being on this thing for a couple of days he found that he had a new found respect for the common fishermen and their way of life. In a lot of ways it was no different than the Pirates. At this point though he was hoping his opponent would come soon so they could get this over with. He was ready to get this over with and get back to his relaxation. He could see why the old man enjoyed this so much.

When the assassin arrived upon Karate Island, the Island-folk seemed revealed. News of the new rivalry traveled fast it seemed. But it also makes sense. The citizens of South Blue would want to know if there was a dangerous person on their island. In this case, that dangerous person has a bounty of only a few thousand beli but people would be interested to know their beloved Mr. Miyagi was harboring him. A rather ridiculously large amount for an only recently heard of Pirate or whatever he was. Unfortunately, that also meant he was clever enough to hide his presence until just a few weeks ago when the bounty came to creation and spread like a wildfire through the ears of the bounty hunting and assassin community. So after the man killed his target Mr. Miyagi he was to kill Qilin. He paid for a barge of his own which he would write off on the Crane expense account and set sail to the location the leaked information placed his target. It didn't take long before the assassin reached Qilin and his rather small barge. It looked to be the size of a small fishing barge, but on further inspection, it seemed to be used for cargo transport of some kind.

Large boxes filled a third of Qilin's barge with the surface also being slightly wet. Qilins senses would hit their pinnacle as eyes would view a rather large barge approach. Heightened vision allowed him to see the man he was to fight well before he reached him. He knew this was his challenger and he had already given the situation a once over and decided this was as good a time as any. He would simply wait and the man would finish speaking and Qilin didn’t really care to listen he would instead puncture the man’s barge sending the edge of the dagger through the foundation of the boat. The blade was already unsheathed and tucked tight to his body so the quick puncture to the foundation took only a fraction of a second. It was large and massive but at the end of the day they were still a primitive people who believed in older ways and used soft wood for rapid movement and floatation. Qilin’s on the other hand was much smaller but had a sturdier foundation. It was much more personal and intricate in detail. It didn’t matter how long or wide the man’s vessel was when punctured it would sink like a rock. Being paper thin, he estimated no more than a half inch in packed dirt and another in barge material by the time the man finished his sentence it would already be well below water and would also allow Qilin’s barge to push off backwards.

The assassin would have no choice but to abandon his safe zone and come into Qilins territory. Qilin merely smiled at the man as he continued floating backwards further away from the man watching his barge go down. The smile was not out of cockiness or even some sure since of confidence. It was because he truly loved combat. It was the one thing that got his blood boiling and woke him from the seeming eternal half slumber in which he normally was always in without the assistance of sake. Only one of them would be left standing after this was all said and done. The man realized this was no Mr. Miyagi yet he planned to kill them both anyway and his barge was going down fast. With everything he had he ran into a dead on sprint and jumped into the large man’s barge. Qilin and the assassin immediately engaged in combat as swift blows from both sides were exchanged. Qilin came with a jab in which the opposition ducked and countered with an uppercut that connected. The behemoth stumbled slightly before returning fire with a shot to the kidney that crumbled the man for a moment. Qilin fully intended to keep the pressure on but found a foot to his gut that to the man’s surprise did very little in terms of damage. Feeling this fight would be longer than it should the man whistled loudly and another small boat approached his barge from the rear. The momentary distraction allowed the man to pull his dagger from his waist and take a slash at Qilin slicing him across the torso. It was a shallow cut but due to the sweat and humidity it bled a lot. The man took another swing at him with the knife but the Amatsu side stepped and held out his index and middle finger shooting them forward and plunging them into the man’s sockets. He screamed in pain as liquids of an unknown substance moved down his face and he realized he was without vision. A swift kick would worthy of Spartan would send him flying off the barge into the sea. It was at that very moment that the boat that was flanking him collided with the back of his own construct. The man ran at him wildly but his lack of knowledge about the vessel caused him to trip over one of the wires. Qilin used this to his advantage and immediately began to strangle him with it digging into his throat. The man violently began elbowing the large pirate in the ribs over and over Qilin wincing as the sharp pain filled his body yet he would not let go. The man pushed off one of the crates causing Qilins back to smash up against one of the beams causing him to spit up blood yet he did not let go of the wire. The sharp metal digging into his own hands. Yet he could feel the fight leaving the man before completely abandoning him his body now lifeless he was thrown overboard.
