Devil Fruits

Run Down

Devil Fruits are mystical fruits found in the world that can give the eater many different and varying kinds of strange and interesting abilities, depending on the type and variation of the fruit itself.

Devil Fruits are said to be the fruits of the Sea Devil and that the secret to their power is hidden in the Grand Line. Because encounters with them are rare (especially outside the Grand Line), a number of rumors about them have risen, making it difficult to tell whether some things are fact or fiction. The average person knows nothing or very little about what they are or what they do; this especially applies to isolated countries, even within the Grand Line, such as Amazon Lily and Wano Country.

One running theme with Devil Fruits, however, is the fact that they taste unimaginably bad, to the point of making it seem like the user had taken poison. The Devil Fruit, when consumed, gives the consumer a power or special trait, which they will immediately become aware of; a person who has eaten a Devil Fruit and gained its powers is known as a Devil Fruit User (能力者 Nōryoku-sha, literally meaning "Ability User" or "Esper"). They come in different shapes and colors, and all Devil Fruits presumably have swirl marks or patterns on them of some kind. Only one bite is needed for the user to gain the power of a Devil Fruit, after which the Devil Fruit becomes a simple, useless, disgusting fruit. Despite this, all users tend to eat the entire fruit, as they are usually unaware of this fact.

When a Devil Fruit user dies, their ability is reborn into another fruit of the same kind. Instead of growing from a plant, the ability simply regenerates inside another existing fruit.

Rules

  • For all objects in question, Pets, PCs, Weapons, etc, only one Devil Fruit can be ingested total. Should another be eaten the consumer dies or is destroyed should the object in question be an item. Those with the Devil's Stomach Fate Perk bypass this rule.

  • There is no limit to how many Devil Fruits may come into your possession, however you may not stockpile Devil Fruits to keep them out of play.

  • Any Devil Fruits that are absorbed by a hammer space related fruit, Swamp Swamp, Dark Dark, the literal Hammer Space Fruit, do not count as ingesting two devil fruits nor does it grant you the power to utilize the stored fruit.

  • Fruits will always find their way back into circulation should one try to force them out of play. i.e. throwing a fruit into the ocean or store them in a hammer space fruit for a long period of time.

  • Of the three characters you may have, only one can have a Logia and only one can have a Mythological Zoan.

  • Only ICly gained fruits can be traded, sold, gifted to others, etc ICly.

  • Alternate Characters must gain their Devil Fruits through IC Methods.

  • Pets can only ingest Tier 1 Devil Fruits.

  • Equipment can only ingest Tier and Tier 2 Zoans Fruits.

  • Only NPCs purchased from the ??? Black Market that have the aptitude to eat Devil Fruits, can eat Devil Fruits. (It will specify they can eat a Devil Fruit).

Side Effects

  • When the user is fully submerged in water they become immobile and unable to personally utilize any abilities they possess.
  • When partially submerged, above the ankle, the user is unable to use any Devil Fruit related abilities and loses a Tier of Strength, Durability, and Speed.
  • User has a weakness to Seastone

Seastone

Seastone, a special substance that emits the same energies of the sea, can also cancel out Devil Fruit powers through physical contact with the user. With sustained contact the victim experiences a loss of strength and energy.

  • Each direct hit scored with Seastone against a Devil Fruit user shaves off 15% of their remaining Stamina.
  • Site registered Seastone Handcuffs only work to negate the powers of Devil Fruit users and drain stamina per post of contact.
  • Seastone can be registered in different concentrations to make it cause as little as negation of devil fruit powers to as much as feeling exhaustion when contact with it is made.

Fruit Tiers

Devils Fruits are given Tiers on this site, 1-3. 1 being "weaker" Devil Fruit and 3 being "stronger". This isn't to say a Tier 1 Skill from a Tier 3 Devil Fruit is stronger than one from a Tier 1 Devil Fruit. This Tiering looks at the raw power Devil Fruits have and sometimes Canon superiority that is confirmed. Mera Mera is Tier 2 and Magu Magu is Tier 3, the Lava Devil Fruit being confirmed to be superior to the Fire Fruit.

Obtaining a Devil Fruit

Devil Fruits can be obtained through four methods. While these detail obtaining Devil Fruits only if you have purchased the correct Fate Point can you or your Equipment ingest a Devil Fruit.

Standard Dice Roll | OOC

The first method, most easy, and the most important is the standard dice roll which is done **here**. Upon character approval you are given 2 free rolls. Then when you roll the "Devil Fruit Dice" the results you get are very important and a link to them should be kept. The results you get, even if doubles, are the category of Fruit you can claim and quest for when trying to obtain a Devil Fruit.

Out of the categories you roll you can instantly claim a Devil Fruit of any Tier, save for Mythological Zoan Fruits. Instant claims are only for your character's ingestion and must match the category of one of you two most recent rolls.

Questing | IC
Questing for a Devil Fruit is done through Arcs. The Arc System is **here**. An Arc is simply a compilation of Task that are arranged to make a plot or story. A Devil Fruit can be acquired at the end of one of these Arcs, but the Tier of the Devil Fruit awarded depends on the Tier of the Arc completed. Devil Fruit Arcs can be any number of Tiers above your character rules, contradicting the Arc System rules. This is a way to get a Mythological Zoan Fruit.

  • Tier 1 Fruit - Tier 2 Devil Fruit Arc
  • Tier 2 Fruit - Tier 4 Devil Fruit Arc
  • Tier 3 Fruit - Tier 5 Devil Fruit Arc
  • Mythological Zoan - Tier 6 Devil Fruit Arc

The Middle and End sections of a DF Arc must be composed of strictly PC task, meaning they are open for intervention from others in your area. See Arc System for more details.

Cursed Wheel | OOC

The Cursed Wheel is another dice roll based way of getting a Devil Fruit. It is found **here**. Cursed Wheel tickets have to be purchased through the Black market or obtained through events and the Casino. If luck is on your side, you may get a ticket to claim a Devil Fruit.

Black Market | IC
The Black Market is an OOC market board controlled by staff. It is found **here**. At random with no notification staff will add and take items from this page, these items will sometimes be Devil Fruits. This method of getting a Devil Fruit directly cost Beli.

Activity Checks

Activity Checks are usually held once a month to clean up the Devil Fruit List, thus making some fruits available. During this time, if you have a Devil Fruit and do not fulfill the requirements of the Activity Check you will have your Devil Fruit taken from your character. As a result you Character will succumb to death as if they were killed by an NPC. **Death Rules**
Death Rules wrote:
Death via NPC

Should your killer be an NPC your character is lost of course, but this only reduces your Tier by 1 with your next character. If you wish to take the 50% EP penalty instead you may. Additionally you lose 25% of your Bounty/Reputation.

With any death you face all belongings including Beli and OOC items like Reroll Tickets are lost.
Activity checks are super easy to pass should you be active on the site, so this is nothing to fear unless you are inactive. Be sure to notify a staff member or use **this forum** to let people keep track of your absences and you may be excused to miss an activity check if it is known that you normally are an active RPer.

Categories

Of the Devil Fruits there are three main categories. Paramecia, Zoan, and Logia. In the Zoan category there are two sub-categories, Ancient Zoan and Mythological Zoan. All of these will be expanded on deeper in this post.

Paramecia

These fruits give the users a power that can affect their body, manipulate the environment, or produce substances. In general, Paramecia Devil Fruits are fruits that give their users powers other than transforming into elements, like Logias, or transforming into animals, like Zoans. Although they do not include powers that allow elemental or animal transformations, some of them are capable of other forms of transformations, as well as creating substances. This is the most commonly seen class of Devil Fruits. Passives granted from a fruit like Luffy's immunity to electricity are to be assumed, but still need to be mentioned on Skill Registration Apps, preferably in the Notes section.

Logia

Logia are the rarest devil fruits there are outside of the Ancient and Mythological Zoan Fruits. Giving the consumers immense power, they are able to change themselves into the element their fruit has power over, or a force of nature. Being able to produce an infinite amount of their element, those who eat these fruits aren't to be taken lightly.

These Devil Fruits are not limited to the classical elements: fire, water, earth, and air, but also include other states like smoke and sand. There are two types of elements: tangible (something a person could hold and touch like sand or ice) and intangible (something that could not be held like light or fire). Logia Devil Fruits can also be divided into two other types, forms of matter (smoke, sand, ice, magma, swamp, gas or snow) and forms of energy (electricity, fire, or light).

Some Logia users have superiority against others, when they wield elements that can overpower specific others. An example of this being the Magu Magu no Mi being able to overpower the Mera Mera no Mi and actually burn them. (Lava vs. Fire). Elaborating on this, when Logias face elements they are inferior to, their intangibility is rendered null. This means, Magma from the Magu Magu can burn the Fire Logia even in their intangible state. This only applies to cases of superiority. A laser beam from the Light Logia wouldn't harm the Fire Logia in their intangible state. You can apply for Superiority over Logias in the Strength section of your  Skillset. This refers to elements in their natural state as well and not just substances/elements from Devil Fruits.

  • Logia intangibility works two different ways here. Non-threatened intangibility and reactionary intangibility. Non-Threatened Intangibility is just sustaining intangibility, for the sake of sustaining it, even though there's no actual perceived danger or threat around you. Reactionary intangibility is activating your intangibility, as a response to perceiving an attack on your person. Non-Threatened intangibility comes at a cost of 15 Stamina per post and can only be used for 3 post, before all intangibility goes on a 2 post cooldown. Reactionary Intangibility is completely free and cannot be pushed onto a cooldown.

Zoan

This type of fruit allows the user to transform into another species and interspecies hybrid forms at will. Zoan users are known for being exceptional close-combat fighters, due to the physical enhancements typically given by this fruit. This doesn’t mean that Zoan users are obligated to focus on close-range-combat by any means, only that this is how these fruits are commonly used. They’re three basic forms Zoans provide: Human Form—the user’s natural form, Human-Beast Form—A hybrid form, combining both the original and the fruit-bestowed species into an unusual form (usually in a bizarre way where the size is greatly exaggerated), and Beast Form—A fully transformed type. Your typical Zoan fruits being limited to being your regular, everyday animal. However, while one can have a Zoan fruit that is based on an aquatic animal, they are still have standard Devil Fruit weaknesses.

Zoan users also have unique forms known as Points. Points capitalize on key aspects of the animal the fruit allows the user to transform into. To access Points, the user needs to ingest a Rumble Ball which is an item only Scientist can craft meaning they can't be purchased.

Classifications

  • Standard Zoan—animals of the Standard Zoan family are your normal modern day species, while the carnivorous ones are more predatory and bloodthirsty than others by nature and as such tend to be better adapted for combat. Users that turn into such animals are naturally more dangerous and powerful in physical combat, and may have useful features, such as claws, to aid in a fight.

  • Ancient Zoan—a much rarer type of Zoan than the typical Zoan, these allow the users to transform into ancient and extinct animals, such as prehistoric reptiles like dinosaurs. Ancient Zoans are noted to be naturally stronger than your normal everyday Zoan and far more dangerous.

  • Mythological Zoan—an exceptionally rare and immensely powerful type of Zoan Devil Fruit and is said to be even rarer than Logia Devil Fruits. Unlike the other types of Zoan Devil Fruits, this type of fruit may be the only one considered impressive, owing to its rarity and the unique powers it bestows upon the user. They allow users to transform into mythological creatures and Gods (which may have special abilities that are comparable to Paramecia and Logia Devil Fruits), the sorts of which could be regarded as the subject of legends and the like.

    Devil Fruit List

This list logs the Devil Fruits, Canon and Custom, that are occupied. This is also where you will post to lay your claim on Devil Fruits you have rightfully obtained through one of the methods above. You may not change fruits after choosing, so choose wisely. If you are claiming a fruit for free on your main account: You must have an approved character with at least 5 In Character Post to claim a Tier 1 Devil Fruit, 10 In Character post to claim a Tier 2 Devil Fruit, and 25 In Character Post to claim a Tier 3 Devil Fruit. These fruits are for your character's immediate ingestion only. The posts for the desired Fruit must be done within a timeframe of four weeks after character approval.
