She didn't have the time to sort her feelings through or even mourn loss of her parents, let alone end of  a lifestyle. But for the moment, Iris was fine with that. Right now, her mind was still fresh on getting some juicy payback. Being left with little more then what she had on her person at the time of the incident and some inhuman machinery obtained through devil-dealing, the first and only thing the girl could do was return to whatever was left of her former home and hope there were any clues. So, with her very few belongings and over-large machinery stuffed in a fairly huge wardrobe trunk, she walked. The structural enhancement on her backbone-to-shoulder area made it surprisingly easy to drag the heavy, wheeled luggage.

Eventually she reached the large black mark that the catastrophe had left on the hill, fenced by some not entirely destroyed walls. On first sight, nothing much seemed left. The fire had eaten down almost all of the house and it's interior before spreading to the grass, garden and shrubbery around it. Pretty much nothing she saw seemed familiar to Iris besides the view in every direction. And she did not even know what she was exactly looking for. Naturally there would not be a calling card with the arson's face, name and address on it waiting for her, but at least Iris hat hopes for some kind of clue. Footprints, a canister of accelerant, something, anything would have been more then Iris had when she set out to get revenge.

Leaving her trunk on the driveway, the short girl approached the charred remains. She had no good reference of how much time had passed between fleeing the inferno and being kicked out of the doctor's stay. But from the first look, it seemed like the firemen had made proper work of drowning everything in a fair radius around the house with copious amounts of water. Effectively killing the flames for sure, but also washing away anything that might have been useful in the mud and soot.
While she did manage to find the entrance to the cellar, a search of that turned out mostly impossible. The firefighting effort seemed to have led to it being fairly flooded to the point where Iris would have had to swim in it after taking the stairs halfway down. Something she did not really want to risk, with no real place to stay, hardly any change of clothes and now being made of metal to a decent degree. Not like there would be anything of noteworthy value in it anyway.

At least two hours of nearly desperate searching for anything passed before Iris gave up. “Dammit.” she concluded, embedding her knuckles in what was left of the east side wall, only for it to break away further, withered down by fire, water and weather. She would have cried if she was not still too possessed with wanting to find something that would sustain her hopes for vengeance. It was exactly as they said: If you want to get rid of something, submit it to the flames. If there had been any kind of lead for her to follow, it certainly did not survive the inferno in a recognizable way. This left her only immediate idea wither like a crop that had stayed it's welcome and gone out of season.

Somewhat unwillingly, but more so disappointed, the girl dragged the wardrobe trunk back down the slight hill on it's cluttery wheels. Wandering mostly aimless, the duo headed into town. It did not exactly matter to Iris where to, but walking in thought was a good pressure valve, the other option being yelling, shouting, crying and throwing herself against sturdy objects. It was in this process of meandering, that a new hope sparked in her mind, as if struck by lightning. Though, in reality it was brought on by merely seeing that which her hope built on.

She didn't know any of them personally, but knew that especially her father and his family name were on agreeable or even profitable terms with some of the local businesses. As such she overheard some names that now recalled themselves as she saw one of them decorating an almost gaudy sign dangling atop of some houses door. 'Sawney's Grand Shoppe” it said. Below it, display tables tried to catch interest for mundane items of daily use and exotic nonsense. But just maybe, they also traded in something she was interested in.

Just to me super double extra sure no one might recognize her, Iris pulled down the hood on her jacket even further and spent a couple seconds clicking her artificial fingers through her hair to mess it up. Expecting it to look different then what she used to be seen like and just maybe it would also help obscure her face. She had, after all, already assumed everyone assumed her dead. If that was the case, not being recognized would save her trouble. Prepared like that, she went in and pretended to be looking at the mirrors, teacups, scissors, candles and other assorted junk displayed on shelves, ready for purchase.

However it may have looked. she did not want to buy anything and headed to one of the cashiers after a short while. The woman most certainly didn't look like a Sawney to her, but would be fine for the purpose. After a rudimentary greeting, she cut straight to the point. She lied about being friends with the family and trying to visit them. Finding the place burnt to the ground and no helpful information to be found on what happened or where she could turn now. Well, it was mostly lies at least. Some parts were more or less true and just generously worded.

Lucky for Iris, the clerk did not take much of a note of being asked something like this and instead turned out fairly chatty. While the young blonde could not provide any mind-shattering clues, Iris was ultimately pleased with the outcome. Between the cashier sort-of complaining about the business actually being investigated for any involvement for a short while and how the Father seemed nice and with many connections and peers around the island and beyond, she could glean some information. Some information she could have come up with on her own. If only her mind and decisionmaking wasnt still hazy with all kinds of emotional storms.

Of course there would have been investigation to find a responsible party or determine if it was an accident or such as well as taking stock of damages and casualties. And if anyone knew anything useful about who set the villa aflame, it might just be the marine's men in their small office downtown who spend all day hoping interesting things happened. The conversation ended with the saleswoman pointing the younger girl at exactly that destination for more information, some mandatory goodbyes and a new plan of action for Iris.
