Description: Allen and one other recruit have shown themselves to be on the top of their class rankings. Each of them defeated three opponents but now must show down to see who is stronger.

One more boy, one whom Allen had been watching a good bit of his fights with the others. He was strong, but he was also pretty careless. He'd taken a good deal of a beating. Allen's uniform was a bit disheveled from the activity, but he'd not been through nearly as much as this young man, Kogo.

It was surprising really, Allen expected a weapon user to be the other man at the head of their class, but the three or four whom actually used weapons were eliminated already. Of course, that didn't mean he'd not be seeing them again.

Though, he doubted any of them would be part of the 'challenge' Luther promised for tomorrow. He didn't really know what it was, but none of these guys were likely going to be there. He didn't really mean that they weren't worthy of being marines, just that he was leagues above them.

Kogo stood ready, and Allen was called out next. He was expecting it, but it didn't mean that he was going to enjoy it. Kogo might have been the best of the class other than him, but that didn't make them anywhere near equals. Captain Luther still demanded that Allen take it easy. That is, easier than he did with the others.

It irritated him, but still he couldn't really stand to hold back. Though, if Captain Luther thought it would help, he guess he couldn't argue.

Kogo didn't waste too much time. As soon as Allen was ready he came rushing at him, swing hard for his face. Allen stepped to the side and avoided the blow. He thought he was free to counter attack, but a sharp knee to his gut showed him he was wrong. Allen was stunned that he'd actually been hit by the attack. It wasn't like he shouldn't have expected it. He should have seen the attack coming, but he'd gotten a bit arrogant. Allen's surprise of the blow landing was sincere. Luther was maybe responsible, telling him he needed to take it easier, and look what happened.

"Heh, guess I do need to take this seriously." Allen shrugged, stepping back from Kogo for a moment. He brought his left hand back and formed the usual dragon claw grip. I didn't want to show this off, but I guess choices are limited. I want to really impress these guys, so just beating the snot out of this guy won't do the trick. I need to show them some of my power.

Allen shot his hand forward, stopping it about a meter from the other boy's face. The boy smirked like he'd missed or something. Allen's brow furrowed, irritated at the boy's arrogance. He had just made a similar mistake, and now the boy was doing the exact same thing. Almost with a sigh, Allen growled, "Obsidian Push!"

At Allen's command, a wave of energy explodes out of his palm with concussive strength. The wave smacked into Kogo's face and sent him rolling backwards until he slid to a halt in the dirt. Allen huffed and puffed, a bit spent. He didn't know why, but that technique took it out of him. However, he went over and checked to make sure the  boy was still alive. He was a little careless, and forgot to hold back his power. So Kogo ate a full strength push.

Allen would have felt sorry,  but it was his own damned fault for being so smug. He could have avoided it, but instead he just gave Allen a shit-eating smirk. He got what he deserved, but Allen was glad he didn't let himself get too carried away. He wouldn't have forgiven himself if he'd have killed him.

"There, satisfied?" Allen said, turning to the captain with an exhausted look on his face. Luther paused for a moment, looking at Kogo, then back to Allen. He gave only a nod at first. Allen decided that it was a clear yes, and started to walk off.

"Wait, Private Yagami. I'll be having a word with you once this boy's been taken to the medic quarters." Luther explained. Allen tried to discern whether or not this was a good or bad thing, and he could only decipher that it wasn't anger in his voice, it had to be something else. Surprise perhaps? Maybe, it was hard to read.

A few guys came running into the yard with a stretcher. They checked Kogo's vitals and hauled him off, not being very hurried about it, so Allen guessed he was going to be fine. He walked over to Luther and waited for whatever berating or praise he was going to offer.

"That was something kid. I'm glad you've got more than just brute strength. It's nice to be strong, but it's worthless without a good head on your shoulders, and a few tricks like that can come in handy." Luther explained, but he was hiding something. He was skeptical, and Allen could tell. He was going to have some questions to answer, that was for damned sure.
