Name: Ritsu
Alias/Epithet: Interceptor
Race: Human
Tier: 3
Gender: Female
Age: 29
Mode: Hard

Description of Modes:

Easy Mode: Easy Mode is for people who have no major interest in their characters dying. You have access to private topics, maims turn into severe bruising that inhibit the use of the damaged body part for the rest of the thread, what would normally cause deaths turn into your character simply being knocked out. However, everything isn't good for you, this also means that your character will never be able to pass Tier 3.

  • Exceptions to these Rules: Should you attack someone on Hard Mode with killing, crippling, injuring, or maiming intent OOC or IC, you lose your Easy Mode protection and may have the same done to you. May it be killed, maimed, injured, etc as long it is the same intention.

  • You cannot make private travel threads, but they can still be No Kill due to your Easy Mode Protection.

  • Also, there are also events which your character will be at risk if you choose to enter them.

  • Lastly your character can be vulnerable to death if you will it.

Hard Mode: This is for people willing to take more of a risk for more of a reward. In this mode you can reach up to T6, and there are other things available to you, like world positions. However, your character is always death enabled. A hard mode person is not allowed to make a "No Kill" thread or a Private thread. Their whole existence is open. Hard Mode is to promote a more realistic One Piece Roleplay-verse and while people are eligible to die while on Hard Mode, our aim here is not to make this a place where people meaninglessly kill. Hard Mode is introduced to promote interactive RP where people value there allies and teammates. Hard Mode is for an experience closer to Canon.

  • Exceptions to these Rules: If you are situated on your island or your ship while out in the sea(not docked on an island), you are permitted to make a private thread between you and crew members. HOWEVER, you cannot make a private travel thread on your ship, you are still at risk of invasion in those threads.

  • Protection for Private Topics on your Ship can last for a duration of 7 IC Post, afterwards the topic is Open.

Changing Modes: Changing modes is also possible if you start out a character, and realize the mode you chose does not really suit you. Unfortunately, to prevent people making the first choice without thought, or using easy mode to their advantage getting as high as they can with Easy Mode, and jumping to Hard Mode, there are penalties to both sides changing modes.

  • Easy Mode Penalties: If you're on Easy Mode, and you change to hard mode, you are bumped down an entire tier, and will have to build your way back up. Anything spent on something you cannot have anymore because of tier problems, (You were T3 with a T3 only sword, and you've been knocked down to T2), will be refunded if you wish.
  • Hard Mode Penalties: If you choose to jump to Easy Mode, you get everything taken from you that is Hard Mode only.

You may only change your Mode once and it does not effect preexisting topics you are in.

Occupation: Martial Artist
Affiliation: Marine
World Position: Rear Admiral

General Appearance:
Ritsu sports a bob cut with straight bangs. Her hair is mostly colored black with red streaks that become more visible as her hair moves around, either when being blown by the wind or with her own motions. She has always preferred shorter hairstyles even as a kid as she felt long hair got in the way and was more difficult to maintain. Despite the way she speaks and acts, looking clean and presentable is something she values. Keeping to her clean look, her lone hair accessory is a white bird-shaped pin worn on the right side of her head. She has a small collection of these pins with tiny variations that only the most observant of fellows can catch.

A lot of people would say she is blessed with a pretty face that would turn heads in most situations. Her fair unblemished skin and amber colored eyes gives her the appearance of a doll even without any makeup whatsoever. She actually dislikes makeup and cosmetics as she finds them uncomfortable and a hassle to put on. If there is any fault one might critique about her visage, it would be that her eyes occasionally have this devilish look, as though she is plotting something less than pleasant. What is worse is that if you actually made eye contact, she would follow-up with a smile that only serves to enhance the impression. That is not to say she is incapable of a kinder or gentler expression, but such occurrences are reserved for more quiet unguarded moments or times spent with people she genuinely cares for.

She has a moderately slim figure with an ample chest. At first glance she appears to be lightly built and not very muscular but this is merely an illusion of her height and result of her training to move about with fluid and graceful motions. When tensed up and in fighting stance, one can more clearly see her toned physique and confidently say she possesses a body that was finely honed to be a weapon. Like her face, the rest of her body is fair and unmarked. Despite her rougher than average upbringing, she was never the type to retain scars as they always seem to heal completely given enough time.

For her typical attire, her top is a short black sleeveless blouse with a white collar. You can just barely see her navel peeking from underneath it. The buttons on her blouse appear similar to the white bird-shaped pin she wears on her hair. She sometimes keeps the last button unfastened to make moving around easier. She wears a longer khaki no button shirt over her blouse to complete the look. As for other accessories she wears on her upper body, she sports a pair of black cloth wristbands. No jewelry or piercings of any kind can be seen on her person.

For her bottom she wears dark red flare pants with a length that stops just above her ankles. They have the usual side pockets and a single back pocket. Instead of a belt, her pants are held in place by a pair of black suspenders with gold fasteners. Her footwear of choice is a pair of black high-heeled platform sandals that add at least five inches to her normal height. She switches these out for more solid platform sandals when her mission or trip calls for something more practical to wear.

As a Rear Admiral, she of course possesses a Marine coat worn over her shoulders like a cape. She wears this at all times when on official business. The inner part of her coat is lined with pockets where she keeps important things such as Den Den Mushi and the like. Of her entire outfit, this is the one that gets roughed up and damaged the most when she is on particularly serious or dangerous missions. It is said that she has had her coat replaced no less than ten times due to being damaged beyond repair since her promotion to her position. But such a record only serves to prove the regular peril she has to contend with the and the strength of the forces she has had to face in her career.

Height: 6'3" (Barefoot)
Weight: Unknown
Crew Tattoo Placement: N/A

Perhaps Ritsu's most defining trait is her competitiveness. When she was younger, she was the type of girl who would play with and compete with the boys without caring for appearances. Physical competition was her favorite pastime back then and she was quite confident in her strength. As she grew older and eventually joined the Marines, she came to appreciate other means of measuring herself against others such as contests of wit. Still, nothing beats a good workout and she never misses an opportunity flex her muscles and put her honed skills to the test. After all, in her line of work there is never a shortage of powerful foes to best and overcome. You could not ask for a better bait to draw her in than an opportunity to challenge someone worth defeating.

With her thirst for competition comes an A-grade determination, although some people might call it stubbornness instead. Even as a child she had always been strong but that did not mean that she always won. She has had her fair share of defeats and she was not ashamed to cry her heart out after a disappointing loss, only to bounce back by the next day with renewed motivation. She was not a sore loser but she believed in second chances or even third chances. This tenacity carried over to adulthood and she is known as one of the more persistent officers out there. She no longer cries about her losses but she acknowledges when she has been beaten, vowing to get her revenge and try again.

Pride and confidence is another big part of her core persona. She is not overly boastful but she always approaches a problem with a mindset that she can take care of it, if not with relative ease then she could at least handle it far better than anyone else could. She is always optimistic about her odds and chances even in times when a more logical person would evaluate the situation as bleak. She believes negative thoughts and pessimism are unnecessary in the world. She does not criticize others for having doubts but then one should not wallow in them and instead endeavor to find a way back into the light. For the most part she has above average tolerance to slights and insults, but everyone has a limit. If you wound her pride too much and you might end up regretting it.

As a Marine it goes without saying that she has some belief in justice. In her case she strives for fairness. She is a firm advocate of an eye for an eye. While this might sound barbaric and archaic to some, her resolve in upholding this value is noble and pure. She takes great effort in ensuring punishments are just and absolutely despises excessive action in the name of justice. She will throw a petty thief in jail without a second thought but will come to the same thief's defense if anyone suggests he be put to death. She prefers to judge things with her own eyes rather than rely on hearsay and reputation alone. If a man has a hundred million bounty on his head, she would see for herself why, even if she has to beat it out of him.

Of course an eye for an eye is exactly that. Despite her noble intentions, there is no denying that this policy can be very cruel. When the subject of scrutiny is a man whose circumstances gave him no choice but to act against the law, she will ruthlessly deliver punishment as the law dictates with little regard for his reasons. And she can be quite merciless indeed. She once nearly wiped out an entire base of pirates because they too nearly wiped out a poor village. No quarter was given to anyone as she felt those willing to kill should have no complaints about getting killed. Such extreme cases though typically only happen when she herself was witness to the scene where a villain performed nefarious deeds that earned the judgment of her wrath.

In most cases an advocate of fairness is also one of honesty, but she is no saint. She is devious and cunning. While she will never tell an outright lie, partial truths are fair game. It is prudent to be careful with words and agreements when dealing with her. True to her competitive nature, she we always be on the lookout for ways she can end up on top and it could even be at the expense of another. However if you are clever enough to outmaneuver her in a negotiation, you can rest easy knowing that she will keep her end of the deal. She is a woman of her word who always keeps her promises. However if you break your end of the bargain, you will find that she is not very forgiving.

Ritsu was born to the Chinjao Family in the Kano Country. To be specific, she was the youngest daughter of the younger brother of the Don of the Happo Navy, a well known fleet operating in the New World. Growing up she got along well enough with her siblings and cousins. They were the next generation of leaders in the Navy and trained everyday. She in particular had a knack for martial arts and competed regularly with the boys despite being a girl. She was confident in her skill with Hasshoken and at the age of ten, she was stronger than all but the oldest of the Chinjao kids and was a likely candidate to be the Don someday at the rate she continued to grow.

It was not known if her budding talents had anything to do with it but on that same year there was bad dispute between her father and her uncle, the Don of the Navy. Such was the gravity of the conflict that in a months time, her father decided to leave the country, taking her along with him. It was an overall painful departure. She was not privy to the details but somehow her uncle won over the rest of her older siblings, leaving her father alone and without allies. It seemed he decided to just go before they could get to her as well. At least that was the story her father told her. He appeared very anxious and angry as he spoke of it. She had always known him to be a rough and tough man but for the first time she could sense weakness and insecurity. He was clearly hiding something but she respected his decision to keep it from her until he himself wanted to talk about it.

While he was not as well known as his older brother, her father was by no means a nobody. When word got out that he had departed from the Navy, his enemies came looking for him and they had to live a life on the run. Two years after leaving Kano, the man decided that Ritsu did not deserve that kind of lifestyle and left her in the care of a man in the Marines whom he trusted, promising to return for her someday. That day would never come. Less than a year after they last saw each other, her father met his end at the hands of a pirate who was after his bounty.

Confused and uncertain about the turn of events that led to that tragedy, Ritsu could only turn to her training to get her mind off the misfortune that befell her family. By this time she had grown even stronger than before. The man who was taking care of her, sensing that she might one day take the path of revenge, suggested that she join the Marines and use her strength for the sake of others. He mentioned that there was no shortage of tragedies in the seas like the one she experienced and she could use her power to make sure many others were saved from a similar fate. The girl laughed at his idealism and wondered how her father was ever friends with someone so romantic. But it was not a bad suggestion. She was nearing the limits of what she could accomplish training on her own and needed a proper teacher and guidance to further refine her skills. At the back of her head she held the thought that if she ever wanted to get to the bottom of her father's fate, she first had to be strong enough to do so.

She entered the Marines and through the years made a name for herself as a pirate hunter and combat specialist, facing and defeating targets that were too much for the average officer to handle. Recognizing her talents, an old Vice Admiral took her under his wing and gave her the training and experience she needed to further hone her abilities. In addition, he also taught her topics like politics and history. It was because of this man that she developed her fondness for reading and seeking knowledge, the first thing she ever showed notable interest in besides martial arts.

In half a decade she became one of the youngest Captains in the Marines. It was around this time that she started to entertain thoughts about returning to the Kano Country to face her past. She submitted a formal request to her superior to be allowed aboard the next Marine ship visiting the island. Her homecoming was something she was rather anxious about. She had not been in contact with anyone from the family in years and she did not know if the rift with her father had ever been forgiven. Surely they had heard of his demise. But from her position, it was difficult to get any news on the Happo Navy's movements. Perhaps most importantly, she wondered if she would be welcome. It was certainly an oddity that a member of a family with famous pirates in their ranks would come back as a Marine of all things. She chuckled at the thought that she might be kicked out of the house in the same way her father was. But joining up with the Marines was something she did not regret. At least not yet.

-Information Redacted-

About a decade later, Ritsu was eventually promoted to the post of Rear Admiral, sailing the seas of the Grand Line. Because of a certain incident as well as an unfortunate reputation for hefty collateral damage when apprehending notorious pirates, her rise through the ranks slowed down through the years as the higher-ups became more reluctant about granting her promotions. It was not something that bothered her. She had long outgrown letting herself be defined by just her rank in the Marines. Her campaigns against pirates spoke for themselves. The only thing she really looked forward to with her promotions was getting more competent people under her but even that was not always a certainty.

As an officer in the Grand Line, she gained a reputation for stopping up and coming pirates from making it to the New World. Such was her success that she began to be known by the epithet Interceptor Ritsu.

It had been many years since she last set foot on that island. The path from the port to the mansion was something she remembered quite well. As she took her first steps into the seaside town, she found herself staring at a scenery that was both familiar and unfamiliar at the same time. Some things changed. Some things stayed the same. But there was no fooling her eyes. This was undoubtedly her hometown. To be fair, she changed quite a bit herself. She wondered if anyone would even recognize her after all this time. Did they even know she was still alive? Even after her father's death no one ever came looking for her. Perhaps they assumed she perished along with him. In that case, her visit would quite a big surprise.

As she casually strolled along, she absorbed herself in the sounds and sights of the morning hustle and bustle. Stores were opening up and people were preparing there wares for the busy day ahead. More than once she caught glimpses of familiar faces and even made eye contact with a few but she decided against walking over to say hello, merely smiling back as she pressed on. If they did not know who she was at first glance then she did not feel the need to stop and acknowledge them as well. Her real destination was further ahead. It was strange though. Years ago she might have acted a bit more sentimental. But today she was in perfect control of her emotions and did not stop to lose herself in reminiscing.

She spotted the mansion even while she was still a long ways off. How could she miss it? The tiled roof and iron red gate were unmistakable. She did spend more than half of her life living within the boundaries of its walls. There were not many places to go for a child between home and the port town. The forest and the mountains were certainly off limits to kids. The dojo was also within the mansion grounds so there was little reason to go anywhere else. It was a random late realization, but the day that she left with her father was probably the first time she ever got on a ship.

As she climbed up the stone steps leading up to the main gate, she could not help but notice the slight state of disrepair and minor overgrowth of grass. This was definitely unusual. The home she remembered was better maintained and well-kept. These were clear signs of neglect. Although looking up ahead she spotted a few lamps that were still lit and the stony ground in front of the gate was damp. People still lived here. So why were things not quite in good shape? The situation was getting more and more curious.

But she did not have time to worry about the house's state of affairs. She was almost certainly not going to be living there again anytime soon. Standing before the gate, she mused again. It was the same thoughts that filled her head even while she was still on the ship on the way there. Was she going to be welcomed with open arms? Was she going to get chased out? Would they even realize who she was without her needing to introduce herself first? With bated breath, she raised her hand and knocked.

Moments later a short man opened the gate to greet the guest that arrived. Ritsu smiled as he glanced up to get a better look at her. It did not even take a second for his eyes to widen with shock. Cold sweat began to trickle at the back of his neck and color drained from his face as he slowly backed away.

Fear. Well, she didn't expect that.
