Spoiler:

Having landed safely on the coastline of Drum, Birdie began his voyage back to the ship on foot. The adrenaline finally expended, he felt the warm trickle of his own blood leaking out of his left shoulder. He hadn't even heard gunfire directed at him, but apparently he was being shot at and even more surprisingly he had been shot. "Fuck." He applied pressure around the entry wound and like one popped a pimple, he gradually squeezed the small spherical bullet out his shoulder. "Ain't that a bitch. Bomb the Reverie and get out without a scratch, but try to rob a ship and get a bullet lodged in my arm." He shook his head, disappointed at himself as he ripped the cloth of a sleeve and turned it into a bandage to halt the bleeding. Arm covered in a dress shirt or not, unless he had a thick coat he would be cold as hell on this island and that's exactly what he was.

Trotting through the snow he shivered violently as he trekked back tot he ship, then remembered what it was he had a death grip on the whole time. The cloak from the assassin. Tossing it on, as he did so a letter fell out of one of the pockets and into the snow. He hummed curiously as he crouched down to pick it up out the snow. Continuing to walk, he opened it and read the contents of it to himself. When he was done he didn't know how to feel upon discovering it was Cervantes who hired the hitmen. He knew he was mad about what happened on the ship a few days ago, but Cervantes had said he had this job lined up even before that day. So regardless if Birdie had acted an ass or not, Cervantes was already trying to have him dead. Finding it all to be quite funny, Birdie laughed out loud to himself as he kept walking to the ship, eager as hell to see Cervantes' face. Bundling up even tighter int he cloak to hide his features and appear as the assassin, Birdie couldn't erase the smile from off his face as he crunched through Drum Island.

Many scenarios played through his head during his voyage, all of which of course ended with him killing Cervantes and finally spreading his wings and truly flying to due what he was destined to do. What that was was be a catalyst and super power in this world. He wanted to be feared and respected. Not so much an enemy of the World Government or an ally, but he wanted to be recognized as something greater than just a man, but as an entity or force of nature.

Cervantes' ship finally in sight he noticed it was very dark. Not a single lantern was lit, not even in the crew quarters. Usually one could see a faint glimmer of light through one of the windows. Things were especially odd, so Birdie proceeded with extreme caution. Activating his observation haki, he noticed that the ship was actually barren of any life whatsoever. It was abandoned. "What the hell is going on." Though his senses told him no one was on the ship, as he stepped aboard his heart skipped a beat and he couldn't bring himself to drop his guard. Like an animal being hunted in the wilderness, Birdie slinked around the ship by his lonesome checking out every room there was. The result was that each of them were empty just as his senses had told him. There was barely even the scent of there being people on this ship. That was probably thanks to the cold making scents harder to detect, but Birdie just found it all so odd. Where could everyone have went and why did they go? His room was the last room to check and he expected all his things to gone just as everyone else's were, but he was wrong. Everything was where he left it, all his inventions, blueprints, clothes, weapons, you name it, it was all there and hadn't been moved an inch. The only thing that was out of place was a note left on his desk. Everything so dark and dreary, this lone note seemed to be like a match or lighter as it stuck out to Birdie like a forlorn star in the night's sky. Grabbing the note, he withdrew a lighter from his pocket and lit a lantern in his room, now he was sure he was alone on the boat as he had done a thorough search. Sitting in his desk chair he read the note, but the ending of it first to see who it was from. He half expected it to be from Cervantes, but again he was wrong and it was actually from Verde.

Birdie was already confused, as he was supposed to have been with the boat team at the heist. Birdie began to feel very uneasy and began to read through the note quickly to find out or at least get a clue as to what was going on.

"The men that were supposed to be taking the row boats with me were saying Cervantes was holding an important meeting at Porter's Estate. Apparently you were told to meet there too, but I highly doubt'd it. So if you're reading this then umm . . . yeah I guess that means you're alive, at least I hope so. But anyways, everyone vacated the ship, no one knows why, but it was Cervantes' orders. Me and Bato are safe and stuff if you care, but I'm pretty sure Cervantes wants you dead, so if you come be prepared to fight. If not me, Bato, and a few others plan on rendezvousing at the port tomorrow at midnight. Meet us there and we can organize something or whatever."

Verde

Birdie shook his head at the shitty letter, but was8 truly thankful for Verde for once. Seeing as all his things were still where he left them, Birdie figured he'd prepare for war. Perhaps he was too eager for his own good, but he was ready to go on the offensive and settle things now, bullet wound and all. It'd be ugly and unorganized, but he hadn't time or patience to plan out a fully orchestrated assault on Cervantes. He figured the guy wasn't even worth all of that anyhow. Grabbing his Eye Scope, Hunter IV, Cerberus, Proton Canon, Gatling Gun, and Time Bombs, Birdie head out. Next time he came to this ship he would be sleeping in the Captain's quarters. That was after it was deep cleaned and all the linen and furniture was replaced of course.

Nonetheless, with bloodlust fueling his body, Birdie began another journey on foot. This time to Porter's Estate. He had the Proton Canon on his back secured by a sling, Cerberus on his right hip, he held the Gatling Gun in his hands like a mad man and had his Eye Scope, Time Bombs, and Hunter IV hidden int he confines of the looted cloak he wore. It'd take him roughly an hour to get there and before he even arrived he could see the light the mansion gave of in contrast to the night time's darkness. Once he was about 50m out, he stopped and set down the Gatling Gun. Putting his Eye Scope on, he also dispatched Hunter IV. Activating the night vision he saw that Cervantes had lookouts stationed around the perimeter of the estate. Apparently he didn't put his full trust in the hitmen. It made Birdie feel good to know he wasn't underestimated. On the contrary he was pissed that he had to stoop to such a level where he had to come and smite a maggot for trying to get one over on him.
