The sun was rising on a small but beautiful village, many of the residents doing farm work and practicing their respective style. Citizens gave dirty looks to the young man walking by, a shark smile gracing his face and the standard marine uniform adorning his body. He couldn't be much older then his twenties, he walked down the street in a rather casual manner, arms behind the head and humming a tune of some sort.

It was a simple life, being a marine on karate island, due to repeated attempts to take the Island most of the islanders were mistrustful of the marines. This worked well for Sergei as he preferred to be left alone whilst on the job, but brought the issue of no one being willing to sell to him. Though it wasn't all bad, it was a popular fishing destination and with the use of a chair leg and ball of twine someone had thrown out he was able to make his life catching fish to eat. Once at the edge of town and out looking the sea he took a seat and castes his crude fishing poles line into the water.

Laying back he pulled his cap over his eyes as to avoid the sun shining into them. He hummed the songs that his mother hummed back home when they were cooking, a way to the pass the time whilst waiting for the fish to take the bait.  As they bit he pulled them in and laid them out on the ground before smashing the head with a rock as to make sure the creature did not suffer. This process was repeated for around an hour and netted him around six fish, enough to eat for the day. Though he stayed at the ledge, it wasn't as though the townspeople much cared for him.

A still silence set around the shed of Lloyd Winters, the man who had won multiple championships on Karate Island. After living years as a nomad, he'd finally found what he determined as peace on isle, in the constant combat among the island's aspiring martial artists. His beard almost grew to his chest, his muscles no longer chiseled, peering intensively at the newspaper due to his declining eyesight. "The newspaper's nowadys' are just filled with piracy reports. What in the world are the marines doing?" Winters said, sighing as he attempted to calmly sip his Oolong Tea. This peace was abruptly disrupted from the loud bang at his wooden cottage front door, shooting through in a stream, almost like a strip out of a bad Archie comic book, the young apprentice rolled like a ball towards the man's dresser."Sir!-" the man's exclamation cut short by his masters screech.

"WHAT NOW! GOD DAMN IT!" Winters exclaimed, as his newspaper now soaked up the oolong tea's healing properties. The apprentice scrambled to his feet, standing at attention at the man's rebuttal. "Sorry! I know this ya' morning time sir but I thought you'd want to know the situation going on in town!" the young apprentice shouted, in a military like response to his superiors. Not weird at all, for the little disciples Winters did take on, this was the normal code of conduct he established. Rushing for a towel, the man wiped up the spilled tea, "Would what your yapping' on about have to do with that black eye you got?" Winters inquired. "Well... Yeah but promise not to get man." the teenager stated, knowing his report would infuriate the master but it was one he had to give, in his opinion. "Spit it out Sena!" the man shouted. "It's Gideon. He's caused a ruckus at a nearby pub again!" Sena shouted in fear. "Damn it... Will he ever continue to sully the Roaring Waves name... That shitty brat." Lloyd said heading for his cloak.

The pub was ridden with the bodies of two factions. One, the bandits who had tried to rip off the local pub owner for a meal and their drinks. Two, the bodies of the local marines who tried to interfere with the fight. "Jeez... Really ZiZi, you need to cool it sometimes." the old woman said sighing. The punk leaned back in his chair, near to bar counter, pushing chair on the structure of the bars wall, two feet on the ground, two in the air. "You've been feeding me since I was a brat coming up in the slums, Miss Jewels. I ain't gonna sit back and let no punk ass bandits give you shit, fam." Gideon said, cracking his neck. "Always the hothead one, the local marines would've handled them. You should get going before a report goes to their main office." Jewels said as she cleaned up the bar counter top grinning. "You can't make reports unconscious now can you, Jewels." Gideon said, smiling though, it appeared to be as if the man snarling at the woman. "Fix that smile brat!" the woman shouted, "And help me clean this place up!-" Jewels concluded chuckling, though the woman's chuckled turned to a heckle in an instant. Gideon had bailed through the window, leaving a bag of beli on the table, which he had pick-pocketed, compliments of the bandits.

Dashing through the backstreets, Gideon advanced to towards the docks. "I gotta ship to work on today." the man said, sticking out his tongue.

Sergei was leaned back and resting peacefully, when suddenly a loud racket was heard from the town behind him. Removing his uniforms shirt and using it as a makeshift sack to carry his fish in, he began his way back into town to check on the commotion, it was a longer then usual trip as he now had a bag of fish slung over the shoulder and took him about twenty minutes to walk back into town. A small amount of people seemed to be surrounding the local tavern of this particular town, Sergei approached with a cautious intent. The scene within the bar brought a frown to the young marines face, on the ground were both his own brothers in arms and some local bandits of whom stayed within the plains. He looked to the woman who seemingly owned the bar and spoke to her "I am Sergei Volkov of the marines, what has happened here?" his voice stern and face emotionless as the people of the island expected it to be.

"These men," she spoke, gesturing to the downed bandits, "came into my bar and started a ruckus. They started fighting the marines there and knocked them out and a young man took advantage and knocked them out while their backs were turned." she was lying through her teeth to protect Gideon, but he seemed to have bought it. "Well, I'll need to have a word with this young man you spoke of in order to get a statement, do you where where I may find him?" it wasn't much, a description of him which could fit many of the men in town. With a promise to reimburse her for the damages Sergei was off.

Of course, taking precaution beforehand to cuff the bandits so the marines may take them in for proper processing once they awake. Sergei began to question men and women at the docks. Due to the islanders distrustful nature toward the marines, word was bound to get to Gideon that a marine was looking for him if he was there, or if he wasn't there, he'd likely be told once he arrived.

Traversing the streets ways, with immense speed, Gideon slid along the clothing lines, covering his hand in chi to prevent the burning sensation from the friction. Flipping off the lines end, which cut off at the hill's endpoint, Gideon walked the boardwalk tenderly, heading towards the direction of the ship he'd been fixing up for a client over the last three days. As walked pass, the local fishermen signalled towards him weirdly, waving his hand in weak manner, calling him over. Buck, well, was a weird old fisherman who had lost his wife and child to the marine core over the years due to his love for fishing. He'd fished more than he was a parent. "What's up, old man?" Gideon called out familiarly. "Hehe... You've been causing trouble again haven't you ZiZi?" the man inquired, his eyes half squinted due to the furiously beating sunlight. "Always." Gideon said grinning. "Again with that creepy smile... You won't get any girls-" the oldman's statement was ended by Gideon's thump to his forehead. "It's the marines boy! One of them was around here buzzing around about some incident at the bar." Buck said. "I really don't have time for this... I should've dragged them into the back alley or something before I left." Gideon said rubbing his chin. "Alright, thanks for the tipit oldman' Stay healthy, fam." Gideon said, dashing off along the boardwalk.

The distance from Buck's position towards Zion's destination was around twenty minutes away. He arrived to an old shed, going around the opposite side of the circular dock to avoid the path of any marines. It was also a path not many people would traverse, this part of the dock was owned by the local underworld of Karate Island, it was the heart of the slums and home to Gideon. Arriving at the abandoned warehouse, Gideon pulled opened the gate, of the stone build warehouse, as he entered, a ship was suspended about thirty feet off ground, merged by two docking points. Taking off his jacket, wrapping his yellow scarf around his waist, after picking it off the desk. Gideon quickly climbed the steps, grabbing his trusty hammer and began work on the vessel.

A sigh escaped Sergei's lips, no one was willing to give him a straight answer. They were incredibly close knit, not willing to snitch on one another to a marine. There was only two things that would loosen the lips of these salty sailors, one was cold hard cash which Sergei, being a man currently using his shirt to haul fish he needs to survive around, did not have. The other, however, being intimidation which Sergei did have on his side. Approaching the nearest fishermen he asked his question, which was returned with the same sarcastic 'lot of them types around here'. Chains began to push out of Sergei's back, just above the tail bone. They were around ten meters in length, four in total and glowing a red color, the ends sharpened to a point that it could cut iron.

"I will ask nicely once more, where is the man I seek?" they seemed intent on calling Sergei's bluff to which Sergei decided to step things up. One of the chains slamming down, through the plans between the man's legs. The loud crash had drawn the attention of many of the local fishermen and women who turned their attention to the tall standing marine and the on his ass fishermen. "Where. Is. The. Man?" he didn't get an address but he did get a neighborhood. The chains dropped off his back, he emptied his sack of fish onto the fishermen "Consider it a payment."

It was a twenty minute walk to this neighborhood and it wasn't exactly a marine friendly part of town. Sergei kept a low profile, he'd likely come to regret it eventually but he couldn't risk a scene here. Approaching the nearest civilians he began asking around and when one bit, he offered a trade. A little bit of information for the guys location, of course that information wouldn't be given and he'd have the guy arrested, but that's another story. A stone warehouse somewhere around the area, a bit of searching about five minutes worth and it was found.

The gate was open allowing Sergei to enter virtually silent, there he was working on a vessel of some sort. "Excuse me, sir. I am Sergei Volkov of the marines, I have some questions for you."

Calmly hammering away at the boat, adjusting the screws on the mast happily, a voice pierced Gideon's serenity. Looking over the side of the boat, "You gotta a lotta grit to be coming to this part of the neighbour hood, oi" Gideon said, sliding onto the railings of the ship, hanging over slightly to bang in a nail. "I don't speak to marines. It's bad for ya' street cred', fam. Besides, what business coulda man such as yourself have with a pauper child such as myself?" Gideon replied smugly.

Back at the bar, Jewels finally cleaned up the mess caused and the injured where escorted to the nearby clinic. Two men dressed in all black suits entered the bar, sitting onto the stools by the bar counter. Resting his left elbow on the counter top, the tallest of the two men, who had a slender fram and straight cut face inquired, "Some of my men where roughed in a scuffle earlier today... The boss would like to know who was responsible, hoot." the man asked, finishing his sentence with an owl sound. The other man was short and petite in nature, standing at 5'2, he had an egg shaped fram. "Wanna Know Wanna Know" he exclaimed almost clumsily.

Sergei, as stern and emotionless as ever,  began to speak. "I am here to investigate an incident at a local tavern. witnesses say you knocked out several bandits after they themselves knocked out several marines." he began movement up the nearby stairs that Gideon himself had taken. "After some questions, preferably back at the bar, you'll be free to do as you wish." his marine persona was dropping "Come on mate, we can talk it out over a couple of drinks. Marine paid. What do ya say?"

Now Sergei didn't KNOW if he could do that, but he was really banking his chances on Gideon not knowing either. "Look, let's start off easy even, what's your name?"

Gideon stopped banging his hammer against the ship. Placing it into his utility belt, he inhaled a deep breath. "One, what evidence do you have that this person who took out these bandits was indeed me. If we are going by word of mouth, I can tell you now for the record, from your description, could you trust anyone in a bar fight to give an accurate description', oi. Is this what the World Government recieve our nation's taxation for, you to harass the poor?" Gideon said, wiping the sweat from his brow. "My names' Gideon O. Zion. I'm a local shipwright around here. This is my place of work, I don't got time to be chilling with marines who don't have anything better to-" Gideon's words were interrupted by the warehouse owner. "ZiZi! Damn it! What did I tell you about working on stolen ships in my shop!?" the shop owner exclaimed. "Well..." Gideon said, averting his eyes from the marine, "This is awkward." Gideon concluded whistling, pulling out a piece of licorice to chew on. "Welp. Later." Gideon grinned, hopping onto the wires that held up the ship. Sliding down the wiring that lead to the floor, as soon as Gideon's feet touched the concrete his dash begun. If he'd managed to land safely, he'd take off towards the warehouse district where he'd be covered from the maze like streets.

Sergei let out a sigh and leaned against the railing of the steps, maybe this wasn't the man he was looking for. Sergei had gone after him with only a rather vague description of what the perpetrator looked like. Gideon was his name, as Gideon was speaking a man came in and accused Gideon of working on stolen ships in the warehouse they were currently in. "Yeah," Sergei spoke as four chains sprouted from his back, sharpened ends and glowing red, "it is awkward." Gideon had begun a mad dash, going for the wires that were hanging the ship up and heading for the floor.

As he began his slide three chains shot out and sliced the wire Gideon was using while he was still sliding down it. After the cut however, the ship began to lean which Sergei had not anticipated. "Didn't think that through." was his thought, he couldn't risk Gideon running out the door and dashed towards it in an attempt to block off the main pathway.

[interrupting the attempted slide.]

The hoisted ship, ten meters from surface tilted slight after the marine, Sergei cut one of the wires maintaining the ship's balance. The older gentlemen working on the vessel, abandoned after seeing the conflict between the two men. "Do ya' know how much that wire cost brat!?" the man shouted, frustrated at the destruction of his property. With no pathway to slide, Gideon found him falling from the the three way meter point of the wire towards the ground. "It's times like this I wished I wired my Chi into my feet... Shit." Gideon thought. Flipping but once in mid-air, Gideon found himself approaching the cement flooring in a manner of seconds. Crunching into a ball, landing back shoulder blade first, the man prepared for impact, rolling into his fall landing flat faced on the concrete floor. The dust from the unkept shed kicked up a slight cloud, not enough to loose complete visibility but just enough make out body fixtures. Cringing on the floor in pain, Gideon push jolted in a sprint towards the door, attempting to escape the marine. However, as much as Gideon would like to escape his run was halted from his ever lingering desire to make sure every vessel left in his care was well-kept, stolen or not. Placing his hands into mid-air, he turned towards the man who now maintained stance on the tilting ship. "I'll come with you, Sergei is it? However, please let me make sure the ship is properly hoisted, it has nothing to do with my alleged crimes." Gideon maintaining firmly that he was not the culprit the man sought out.

Sergei cursed himself, he couldn't believe he had forgotten to make sure the civilians were safe before launching an attack like that. "The higher ups are really gonna chew my ass on this one." he mumbled whilst scratching the back of his head. Gideon seemed like he wasn't going anywhere given how he landed, though once he seemed to start making a run, Sergei himself almost leaped into action. That is, however, until Gideon put his hands up and made a simple request to hoist the ship back into proper position then he'd answer any questions Sergei had. He scratched his chin and gave a shrug, dropping the chains off his back  He got down from his position on the ship and began his way towards Gideon, extending his hand for a good old fashioned handshake "We got off on the wrong foot here, a proper introduction is in order.. I am Sergei Volkov, it's nice to meet you." that shark toothed smile of his on his face.

"Let's get to work shall we, then we'll head to the bar and talk about this over a few drinks. Sound good to you?"

Gideon whipped out his intimidating grin, though it only appeared so to others or anyone who didn't quite no him, he was rough around the edges. Extending his hand, he shook the man's hand firmly, "Ya' not half bad after all for a big wig, fam'" Gideon said in his southern blue accent. "Oi! Old Man, quickly grab some backup wire from the supply shed out back! I'll get the step ladder ready!" Gideon shouted. Ruffling through his utility bag, Gideon tossed step ladder weights towards the marine, "We're kind of short on hands, coulda' ya help us out for a bit!?" Gideon, said dashing back up the stairs, going to obtained the ladder which was wedged by a pack of crates in storage, to the side of the balcony working dock. Stepping tenderly down the steps, Gideon attempted to setup the ladder, positioning it a few meters back from the titled ship. "Human beings are disgusting things. We curse the gods, the seas, our own kind but ships have none of these selfish desires. Whatcha' put in, you get back! The better the materials, tha' prettier the brute!" Gideon exclaimed as he secured the legs of the ladder. "Oi! Place the weights on the bottom of the ladder so it won't move! Then, go to the crank over there on the opposite dock, once the wire's connected to the two cranks, start churning on my signal!" Gideon instructed, ordering around the very man who moments ago was trying to interrogate him. "I got the wire ZiZi! Still doesn't change the fact this is a stolen ship! The Dock Manager said some weirdo came in with a merchant vessel and you helped him repair the damages! Are you crazy!?" the man shouted. "That ship didn't ask to be stolen. It was in bad shape, no one would touch it, so I fixed it. It was crying... I could hear the spirit of this ship... Stuck under the whims of man's greed." Gideon concluded, making an angry face of sorts as he recanted the incident.

That grin didn't much scare Sergei, hell it reminded him of his own grin from when he was younger. The handshake a success Sergei gave a grin back "I'm no big wig, just an ensign trying to do his job." Gideon rustled around in the bag of his and tossed a few weights to Sergei which he caught with a bit of effort. "Of course I'll help, it's why I offered after all." he replied to Gideon whom was moving up the stairs. As he returned he began speaking of the follies of man and how ships have no desires. "That's a way to look at life I suppose. Humans do pretty terrible things after all." was his reply as he weighted down the ladder as asked of him. After that as asked he went to the crank and prepared to do the turning when asked.

"I'm ready when you are, Gideon. I hope you intend to return this ship once you've finished repairing it. Otherwise I have something far more substantial to bring you in on." his voice casual at though he was speaking about bringing in the Sunday paper.

"All ships are beautiful but this one isn't to me. It's design isn't intricate enough for me to want to steal it. You should really hunt those culprits who stole it in the first place." Gideon said almost nonchalantly as he waited for the wire to stretch across to the other-side of the dock. The old man hustled around, churning up the wire into both cranks, meticulously but swiftly. "Alright that should be good." Gideon said, shooting the okay sign towards the marine. The old man hustled over to the opposite of the dock, in position by his crank. "When I yell 'Bingo', turn the crank... Bingo!" Zion said, pacing his words to give the men time to get into position. Assuming the marine got the cue, the ship would rise back into balance in which Gideon would shout that's enough.

Moments after the correction, a pack of hooligans dressed in all black entered into the warehouse, about eight in number. Of the eight, two looked slightly different from the others, wearing red and green undershirts, while the others wore black. "Ships looking good ZiZi! Hoot." the man exclaimed, making a hoot noise at the end of his statement. "However, the agreement was you'd work on the ship discrete as possible, why is the 'noise' here?" the man said, pointing towards the marine. "He's just an old drinking pal' of mine. You look nervous." Gideon said grinning. "I'm just making sure you didn't rat me out after I paid you for this job, you dig, Hoot!?" the man said calmly, lighting the cigarette. Stepping down off the step ladder, "The ship was pretty banged up, I fixed the mast, the rudder and it's sails. It's ready for the seas for the most part." Gideon said, regaining stance on the floor. "However, for an extra charge, I can make her faster." Gideon said, making the signal for more money by rubbing his fingers. Reaching into his jacket, the man pulled out a flintlock, "Or, I think I've paid you enough and at this point your swindling me.." the man said slightly annoyed. "I'd put that gun down if you don't want to end up like your men in the bar." Gideon said smugly. "Haha... That was you... You little shit, Hoot." the man said, his eye slightly twitching. "I figured something like this would happen. Insurance just in case your word didn't hold through. Besides they disrespected my old' lady, punk." Gideon said, lifting up his lip in frustration. The man in the green shirt, lit his cigarette, looking down to his partner, "Giovanni... Handle the marine... I'll deal with the punk. Men, help brother put the marine into the ocean where he belongs." the man said grinning, balancing the cigarette between his teeth. "Or you could always walk away... Marine Noise..." the man said, looking at Sergei intimidatingly.
