The moon was high in the dark sky, illuminating the earth ever so slightly. It's light was the only thing seeping into Loki's room that night. It's rays illuminated a small sliver of his room. Loki had went to sleep in his bed same as any other night before. There was nothing different about his routine on this particular day. It was an average night for the most part, a slight breeze came in through an open window to help keep the room a nice cool temperature after a hot day. He slept peacefully for the time being. They say when a person sleeps he dreams on average ten or so times. Of course the word dream is often associated with an imaginary world your brain creates while your sleeping. Most people are merely bystanders in these actions and have no control. However there is a phenomena called Lucid Dreams where the dreamer is aware that his dream is indeed a dream. In these situations the dreamer can often take some sort of control doing as he or she wishes. These Lucid Dreams are typically short lived as people tend to do out of world situations that they aren't familiar with and as such the brain has nothing to associate with these feelings causing it to work hard to replicate a feeling usually take the dreamer out of the rem sleep state and ending the dream.

There is another word and another type of dream associated with Lucid Dreams... Nightmare. A nightmare or 'bad dream' if you will is a scenario the dreamer finds frightening or uncomfortable and being dreams they tend to reflect deep fears buried in ones subconscious and can reflect a great many things. Now during the dreams and nightmares everything the brain creates is typically associated with something it has already experience. Now Nightmares are commonly recognized as dreams as people get older as people like to refuse what they see is a reality causing a panic among other emotions. Tonight was a night where Loki was going to experience a real nightmare.

In his dream he was walking through a not very busy street, a few people here and their, shopping at various stands here and there. He was on his way home from doing something, it wasn't important and he just wanted to get home. He walked for a bit before coming to an what appeared to be the end of the street, there was a decent sized fountain in front of him in a circular area and standing next to the found was a women with long flowing black hair. It must have been at least waist long. He couldn't see her face as she had her back turned to him. Her skin was a little pale but nothing out of the ordinary, she had a basket next to her, sitting on the edge of the fountain. She must have been doing some shopping. She was currently digging around the basket but Loki was shocked when she pulled her hands from her basket. Each and every finger was bent in abnormal directions. Each finger bending to a weird shape a finger shouldn't be bending. He could feel his heart start to skip a bit in shock. He took half a step back unsure of what he was seeing. Then the woman's head picked up and she turned her head towards him, resting her piercing gaze on him. Her eyes were a deep red like the color of blood, but Loki could hardly notice them after seeing her face. The left half was normal if not a little pale but the right half was skinless. It was a skull covered in muscle tissue and cartilage. It was grotesque. The veins oozed little drops of blood. Her eyes were locked with his as grin slowly rose to her face. One of her broken hands reached back into the basket next to her. The broken fingers somehow worked together to pull out a knife. The sun reflected off of its blade the second it rose out from the basket.

Loki wanted to turn and run but he couldn't. He wasn't sure what he was seeing but he knew it was bad. A knot was forming in his gut and his heart was pounding. He had to get out of their but he just couldn't force his body to move. The woman who was now wielding a knife took a step toward him. His heart was racing so fast now he thought it was going to explode out of his chest. He blinked quickly hoping that she would gone when his eyes opened but all that had changed was that everybody was gone. It was now just him and this creature before him. As she got closer and closer he tried to scream for help but his voice wasn't working. He was trapped. His eyes widened in fear as the woman was now within reach of him. There was only inches of space between their bodies now. Her knife wielding hand slowly came up to his stomach. The tip of the blade now rested just to the left of his belly button. He wanted to scream, run do anything but he just couldn't. It was as if he was being held in place by some mysterious force. Then the blade pierced him. Slowly. The woman gingerly applied force to the blade. The pain wasn't much at first, as he could feel the familiar feeling of blood on his skin. But she kept pushing. Slowly the blade made its way deeper into him. His breath was panicked coming out in gasps as if he was choking on air. When the blade was hilt deep into his gut the woman's eyes locked with his again. She brought her face closer to his ever so slowly. That monstrous grin still plastered on her half melted face. Soon her face was next to his. He heard the sound before he felt the pain. She sunk her teeth into the side of his neck, he could hear the skin pop as her fangs tore into his flesh. A warm liquid rose from his lungs as he started coughing up blood. The pain was too much. He was going to die. He felt weak as he started to lose consciousness, his eyes slowly closed as his life was taken away...

His eyes opened again, still standing but this time he wasn't on the road or near a fountain. He was in front of a painting. If he could call it a painting. It was like one of those inkblot images therapists used. He more he looked at it the more he found himself unable to look away. As if he was mesmerized by it he lifted a hand up and slid his index finger across the canvas. When he was done it started to move. The canvas remained on its easel as he continued to stare at it. The ink that was blotched every moved around and about, off the edges even as new blotches formed from nothing only to repeat that same cycle. He couldn't away however it was still so interesting for some reason. The cycle was broken it seemed as all the blotches left around the edges of the canvas and what was before him was a blank canvas.

It no longer had his full attention and he was ready to head back home as if nothing at all had happened. But to his surprise his feet wouldn't move. He was frozen again, he turned his head to see if anybody could help but nobody was here. It was only him. A bubbling sound filled his ears soon as he panicked to try and see somebody. He turned his attention back to the canvas to see a large inkblot form in the center of the canvas. Small streams rolled down and off, hitting the ground as it bubbled up and out from the black hole that now formed. His heart moving at a mile a minute now. What was happening, and why was it happening to him? Why couldn't he move?! All these questions raced through his mind but did nothing other than panic him more as his breath became ragged yet again. He struggled to move even just a muscle but it was to no avail. He was immobilized yet again. Slowly a hand, followed by an arm reached out through the black hole in the canvas. It wasn't a human hand. It was clawed and bony looking, but covered in a thick black liquid like the ink on the canvas. The long arm reach out towards Loki, its bony claws brushing across his chest. Loki gulped a thick gasp of air as he struggled to just take a back but he couldn't do it. The hand kept moving closer. Finally its fingers rested on his chest just over his heart. But the arm kept pushing and Loki wasn't moving. The bony claws slowly pierced his skin pushing into his chest cavity. The pain was excruciating and he wanted to cry out but he couldn't. He gasped for air yet again as he struggled with the pain but he was half choked by a stream of blood coming out from his lungs. He encountered a new pain when the bony hand brushed his heart. The hand literally had its hand around its heart. It gently squeezed now and again. Playing with him. Every time it squeezed it sent a new and more excruciating shock of pain throughout his body as he squeezed harder and harder every time. Finally the hand must of had enough it squeezed and squeezed. Loki finally mustered a sound as he yelled out in pain and then 'pop' the hand had crushed the heart in its hand and a new stream of blood came out of Loki's mouth as he coughed it up. The hand retreated quickly back into the painting as Loki crumpled backwards onto his back. His eyes stared up at the sky momentarily until they finally closed and he breathed his last breath.

When his eyes opened again he recognized the ceiling above him as the one from his own room. He let out a sigh of relief as he was back in his room, lying in his bed. He went to rub his eyes but his hands were restrained. Strapped down at his wrists and ankles. He struggled to pull away from the restraints but the straps were too tight. The door to his room was pushed open, a blinding light filled the room leaving only a masculine outline before him. A man stepped into the room dressed as a surgeon bringing with him only a scalpel. Loki was assuming that he bore a wide toothy grin underneath his mask. Loki hated the man. The gripping fear was mixed with hatred as he struggled break free from his restraints. The surgeon hustled over to his bedside and pushed down on Loki's chest to keep him from moving about. He readied his scalpal and brought it close to Loki's chest, he could feel the razor sharp blade touching his skin. His anger overwhelmed him and he shouted

"No, No Noooo!"

Right when the blade dipped into his flesh Loki woke up from his deep terrible sleep his body shot up and his arms were already moving to push away the intruder who was no longer there. It took a moment for Loki to calm down from his terrible dream. His body was drenched with sweat and he felt exhausted as his breath was ragged. After sitting for another minute, catching his breath he eased himself up from his bed and left his room. He needed to take a walk after that horrible experience. He had already forgotten most of dreams but a few images were still present in his mind. He hoped while he walked if he didn't think about it he would forget the rest. It had been a long time since he had a dream let alone a nightmare but he recalled taking walks when he couldn't sleep before so why not now. He locked up his room and stepped out into the dead of night. The town was quite, a few nocturnal creatures made a sound here and there but for the most part the sound of the crashing waves was all he could hear as he walked about the town at night.
