Malik Roberts

Malik Roberts
Darkness, that is all that permeated the boy's mind after he was knocked unconscious. He wondered, if this is how the opponents he had defeated before felt. It may be due to the fact that they still had their eyes closed, so all they could see was darkness in the first place. Of course, one was never certain what went on in a person mind while they were in a daze, disconnected from the world around them as they blissfully regained their strength in a premature sleep. While unconscious, Malik could swear that he was being carried. Now that it came to his very thoughts, the last thing he remembered was being knocked unconscious by the marine that had managed to wound him. He felt as if he was being moved against his own will. It had to be the same person that had hit him into a blissful premature sleep. He was sure of it. Before he was pulled into unconsciousness, he noticed the soldier put away the Devil Fruit he had originally sought after. Which means the man still has it on him. However, it was now within one of the individual's pockets. If he could manage to wake up in time while he was being carried, he could take it from under his nose and eat it. There was still time to do it. There was still a chance to take on the will of his great uncle and his friends grandfather. He could still keep his promise. He truly hoped he would not fail this time as he did within the previous battle he had with the marine lieutenant that was now carrying him. He has another chance and he did not want to mess this one up. It was his chance to become a living embodiment of sand, a walking desert. Of course, it will take a few seconds to a few minutes to take it as the boy was still out cold. Even while he was unconscious, he never stopped planning ahead. That was a certain part of him that doesn't seem to change at all. He never seemed to give up, not when someone else's fate is on the the line. Such examples include the will of both his friend, Zatania and his deceased loved ones or people that have come to care about. Whatever the case was, Malik never gave in and gave it his all for others rather than fighting for himself.

As the marine lieutenant continued to carry him, the boy began to further slip out of his daze after being knocked out. His very eyes started to slightly flutter from his currently unconscious state. As such, his vision was slowly coming back to him.  He was mindful to keep his eyes closed enough, so that the marine that was moving him wouldn't notice as a result. He has yet to see the full capabilities of this man. he was not able to risk another fight with the current condition his was in. At this rate, a battle will most surely ensure another defeat as well as resulting in the teen becoming unconscious once more. Fighting at a time such as this would be rather unwise. He needed to try tactics that didn't involve violence at this moment. Right now, it was time to fight smart instead of fighting hard. There were times when battle solve little to no problems. A fighter should choose not just his opponents wisely, but the proper time. Otherwise, it would seem inappropriate and nonsensical. It was obvious that Malik was not going anywhere much due to the injuries he has sustain. Hopefully, he could still walk, afterwards. The gunshots to his body should've healed to a point to allow much movement without the sensation of great pain. Of course, these very ideas weren't set in stone. The young fighter may feel stinging sensations when he tried to move, but that will hardly matter to him that much. He possesses a strong will and high endurance, so pain of the particular level he was expected would be able to be brushed aside more easily. As his vision became more clear the more steps the marine took, he quick began to observe his current surroundings from the current angle he was being held at. From what he could see while still try to appear unconscious, he was still within the forest region of the island. His enemy just exited the lake from what it appears and he seemed to have no trouble carrying him towards the jail that he was supposedly going to be staying at for a while. He slowly looked to what the lieutenant was wearing. He then, quickly examined the pockets of the coat his previous opponent was wearing. In one of them, he was able to find the Sand-Sand Fruit in all it's glory, completely intact and not bitten into from what he could see. From the very size of this object, it would appear that it was a tight fit.

He had to time this move just right, or else he would lose this giving chance. He may not be in any shape to do battle with the man, who carrying his own body, but he could still move with enough given effort. He truly hopes he is at an manageable enough speed to take the fruit that had been stowed away in the marine's coat's pocket. With not time to relax at this rate, Malik began to move his right arm, but careful not to allow the lieutenant catch awareness of what he was doing. His gaze then, darted towards the Devil Fruit in the young soldier's pocket from where it had been stashed. He quickly thrusted his right hand towards the object he sought after all of this time. [If he was successfully at this maneuver, the fruit would be in his hands. It was leaning to a likely possibility as Malik was trying his best to remain unnoticed while trying to reach for the Sand-Sand Fruit. If he did proved successful, he would, unfortunately, fall off of the back of the man trying to carry himself. This would result in the boy land clearly on his back with a thud. After those string of events, he was uncertain of what might happen next. With him already injured as it was, he wasn't sure, if the lieutenant would attack him now or simply stop him from eating the fruit and taking it out from his own hands. What he is sure of is that the moment he had the Devil Fruit within his grasp he would try to eat it as soon as possible. When he would find himself landing on his back, he would quickly hold it the fruit to his mouth and take one bite. If nothing were to interrupting him in this process, he would chew on the bitten piece and swallow it, doing his best to ignore the revolting taste. One important bit of information he learn on Devil Fruits was their disgustingly bad taste. It was a small price to take when gaining extraordinary powers. If he did manage to eat such a food, his face would slightly contort in a manner to let one know that he is appalled by how the fruit tasted. It was a feeling only those, who have eaten a Devil Fruit themselves could relate to. Even after swallowing the piece of fruit he had bitten into, the boy would grip at his chest to help cope with the bad flavor of the object he had just eaten.

When the possibility of having consumed the Sand-Sand Fruit had passed, he would willingly toss the what was left of the unfinished meal away as all that was needed was one bite. With Malik having been so close to the lieutenant and the fact that he believed the boy to have been unconscious, he had a greater chance of becoming a living embodiment of sand. The soldier would be too preoccupied with carrying the teen and find a way out of the forest to even bother to see how he was doing in the first place. Additionally, the saw which pocket he had put the Sand-Sand Fruit in before he was simply knocked out cold. It was definitely a perfect opportunity to cease such an object. Of course, knowing what fruit you are after is very easy for a knowledgeable person such as Malik. Knowing how to use the power one has been granted was a different story. It would take some time as well as concentration, but Malik was certain he could get the hang of his newly-acquired powers. Of course this would still pose a problem. If he had had just eaten the Sand-Sand Fruit, he was still unaccustomed to turning in sand to dodge attacks more easily. He would still need time to learn how to and utilize such an application efficiently. Even if he were to eat the Devil Fruit, he had not planned on what he would do about the marine sending him to prison. Despite the possibility of becoming a Logia of Sand, that still would stop the determined man from dragging him all the way to the very place where Baterilla criminals would be sentenced. Of course, at a time such as this, it didn't mattered to him. As long as he gained the very powers that he was searching for and fulfilled the promise to Zatania he had hoped. He had hoped he would be able to at least stand a chance against the lieutenant, if he proved successful in gaining his powers. Fighting an ordinary being was one thing, battling someone else with a body made of some other than flesh was another story. He just needed time to think figure out how to change into sand. That would be a first priority when he had successfully eaten the Sand-Sand Fruit.]

Alright then, I'll just edit it, so he is shown snatching the fruit from under the marine's nose. Also, Tee, do you mind NPCing for this thread?

Here are the edits I have made. I have tried to point it out that he was trying to consume the fruit and so I am not bypassing any actions of the NPC. If it is still believable, tell what I need to change, so it fits.
