Arena Blanca, Aguas Claras [Arc part 1] Yt43e

Oh gods... This weather was gorgeous... And not even just the weather, too. The closer Linnea got to this island, the more she felt as if she'd just found a treasure trove of nature. The Melusine had been off sailing to its own devices, leaving the Captain to do what she did best: Taking point and exploring new lands ahead of everyone else. In this case, she was more than happy to do so, even going as far as foregoing her usual ranger's army instead of a rather sexy black bikini. Linnea wasn't shy about showing her body like this, but noticing how her crewmates - mainly the male ones - just kept gawking at her still made her blush like a schoolgirl in love. Guess there were some sides to her shyness that she'd just never be able to overcome.

"Jyooooo!", she heard her old friend Sengoku should from hi up in the sky. The Southbird had been mostly confined to the ship for the past few months, he was too easily identifiable when what the Uroboros needed right now was to stay incognito. The bird wasn't happy about it, but he'd been content to silenty explore the neighboring islets. He was a huge help with navigating around Ennies lobby, to places where the Log pose didn't point to, and it was his keen eye that first brough this island to their attention. And he had more than earned his right to explore it to his heart's content

Linnea giggled softly and pet her feathered friend as he perched himself on her shoulder, as always amused by the way his beak seldom pointed in the same direction as his body, in this case pointing the opposite way... She strapped her pouch around her waist, slid her bow and quiver around her back, and leapt off the ship, seemingly into the ocean. But she wouldn't fall to her death: Instead, crackling sounds filled the air as she froze the water beneath her in a rather wide surface, creating a wide path, gradually stretching towards the beach. Even with all this sun, Linnea's ice was thick enough to remain stable as long as she needed it. Thus, she did what she often did, walking on water towards the island... Yet walking like this, without her hood, Linnea was sweating at the sheer heat blazing over her... The sun was so bright... Sweat trailed down her face and arms, with a stray beat occasionally slipping down between the ample valley of her cleavage, even if this time around there were no peeping toms to admire the sight. She wiped the sweat off her forehead, raising her hand over her eyes to block out the sun, thankful for the sea breeze freshening up her skin. The Ice woman was always more sensitive to heat than cold, even before eating her fruit, and even if she was more than capable of enduring the adverse envoiromental conditions.

"What beautiful weather...", Linnea commented happily, turning her steely gaze upwards with a hopeful smile on her face. The fresh sea breeze refreshed her sweaty body as the crashing waves welcomed the arriving pirate to the white sandy haven. Before long, she could see all the way through the clear shallow waters. At the point the water was shallow enough that she could actually risk dipping her feet into it, and so she did... She felt herself slightly more exhausted and sluggish as she was submerged up to her ankles with the clear warm water, but it was still completely worth it...

The warm water, flowing around her feet, and the soaked sandy bank giving way as she walked over it... She sighed contently, taking a deep breath of the salty ocean air as she walked further and further away from shallow water and onto dry land. Linnea used this rare moment of being partially surrounded by sea water to test the limits of her abilities... Watching her arm along her slow stride towards the dry sands, she frowned slightly with an obviously strained attempt of being unable to activate her Ice powers. No matter how hard she struggled, she couldn't turn her arm to solid ice, or witness the trailing condensation that normally announced her activating powers. And there was nothing she could do about that... She understood the consequences when she first ate her fruit, she knew that she'd never be able to swim as she used to love, and even now she didn't regret that choice. But it was still a good idea to fully understand the powers and the limitations of her new powers. Right now, she discovered that even she could still walk while up to her ankles in water, she still couldn't use her powers. It might work if she was trying to run away from a chasing enemy, but not being able to turn into her elemental form could screw her over if she expected it to work...

Regardless, Linnea had completed her small test and as Sengoku took to flying around the island, Linnea decided to take a few minutes to do the one thing this island had tempted her to do ever since she saw it on the horizon: Lay down and soak under the sun. So, she wasted no time doing, sitting down and laying face up on the soft, warm sand, folding her arms behidn her head and closing her eyes. There were no significant auras within fifty meters, so she allowed herself this one moment to relax... Linnea went as far as pulling one arm in front of her eyes, shielding them from the sun... And there she laid, for a good few minutes, before she finally flipped around on her belly, once more resting her head on her crossed arms. At that point, she let her eyes trail around the skies, watching the clouds, until they eventually narrowed at an intriguing sight.

Sengoku flew around in circles as he often did whenever he found something interesting. By the time Linnea noticed it, she was left wondering how long he'd been at it; she could swear he was squaking but from that much height she couldn't really tell. Instead, she groaned and did the only thing she could: Heed the call of her professional treasure hunter, and get her toned but lazy ass off the sand. Getting up, Linnea swipped and slapped the sand off her body, particularly around her thighs, buttocks, belly and breasts. She pulled off and adjusted her swimsuit, getting rid of the sand that found its way inside. There was a price to pay for lying in the sand without a towel and she was paying it right now, but then again Linnea would never let that stop her. She may no longer be able to swim, but she wasn't gonna let that stop her from enjoying the beach. Keeping her eyes on Sengoku, there was still something she couldn't wrap her head around. Why was he flying away?

Focusing on her Haki, Linnea ventured inland and before long the answer revealed itself: "Are you sure you're not just being Paranoid...?", asked a voice further away, and Linnea reflexively ducked down behind a tree

"I swear, that kind of bird doesn't live anywhere near here. Somebody else must have brought it over!"

Some Marines in trunks were prowling the wilderness, swatting and chopping away vegetation as they struggled to keep an eye on the bird flying around. The caps betrayed their affiliation, and Linnea's eyes turned into a glare... She was gonna have to take care of them if she was gonna have any peace on this island. Condensation oozed off her forearm as she activated her Hie Hie fruit and got ready to fight...

Tracking them with Haki, Lin matched her footsteps with theirs, staying hidden behind trees and shrubs to ensure they didn't hear or spot her. Sengoku was doing a fine job at distracting them and before Long Linnea got close enough to take them down. She could use her bow the thoughts of her Devil fruit didn't escape her mind, and she realized she needed Practice with it. Thus, she was going to use nothing but her devil fruit, and the simplest ability she had discovered thus far: Her ice needles. Among these Marines, the pointman and the one behind him were the strongest, with the the latter being by far the strongest. The grunts following them were just that, grunts. Thus, Linnea timed her sneak attack and once the Marines got within range, she swiped her arm horizontally, shooting off a perfectly aimed needle at the guy's neck. Even though it hit a weak spot, these needles were too weak to kill unless she aimed for the eyes or imbued them with Haki, but it would make him bleed out a great deal, and that was exactly what it happened, She followed along with two more quick swipes, firing off two more needles and intercepting the startled pointman as he turned around, as well as another one of the grunts.

Thus she had taken down three Marines by the time two started shooting at her, but with all of them inside her Haki radius, she could gauge their trajectories and step out of the way:

"THERE!! THE ENEMY IS OVER THERE!!", one grunt yelled, pointing roughly in Linnea's direction. Crouching behind bushes as she was, they couldn't really see her clearly and it wasn't very hard to stay out of the bullets' path. Following another somersault, she swiped her hand twice at the two Grunts charging at her with machetes raised, taking them down as the remaining three finally noticed here, "NAGA D. LINNEA!! SHOOT HER!"

This time, their guns were clearly on target. But without rapid fire, ducking under the bullets' path was easy as pie. Among these enemies, one of the grunts and a seemingly stronger Marine had flintlocks, while a single Grunt had a machete. She quickly shot a needle at the grunt's knee, timing the following two needles to sweep right over the guy's head and take down the two behind him by surprise. Even in the grand line, Marines of this level and flanked like this were no match for the deadly huntress, and before long Sengoku returned to Linnea's side, squaking and perching himself on her shoulder. He had done a good job at distracting the marines and enabling her to get the first strike, and thus the only wounds Linnea incurred were some cuts and bruises from rolling around over twigs and shrubbery to avoid their bullets. She pet her feathery friend before turning to the downed Marines: Linnea looted all of their Beli and smashed the transcievers on their Den Den Mushi, releasing the snails in the process. They wouldn't call for backup anytime soon.

Task Name: Clear Waters
Tier: 1
NPC or PC: PC
Location: Ennies Lobby (Outskirts)
Crew, Team, or Personal: Personal
Description: Exploring inside the island... Though it's mostly safe and pleasant, you'll find that as you go deeper into the island, it looks more

or less like an average rainforest. The sea still pours inwards on high tide, forming salt water pools where even Devil Fruit users soak in. However, amidst your adventures, you will be attacked by a banana croc who might exploit your moment of weakness. If that doesn't happen, you'll come upon it attacking something else and it will turn its attention to you. You will meet a blue octopus mermaid

Sabrina:

She didn't know when these Marines were gonna wake up, but being in a good mood as she was, Linnea didn't feel any particularly strong need to kill them all. They hadn't done anything overly corrupt or threatened her crew mates, they just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. It wasn't really a crime worth dying over, if even it could be called a crime... Of course, the notions of justice and crime are tied together tightly, and if Linnea went as far as rejecting the World Government or the Marines' law, she would also have to decide for herself what she would consider to be a crime. If she couldn't accept the established law, then she had to have her own... She was far from an amoral, lawless person after all. Thus, she would consider Amazon Lily's own laws to get started, and from then on she could just think as she went along... Being the Captain of a Ship, it was up to her to make her own laws, especially while on high seas.

Sengoku Squaked again while perched on her shoulders, as if trying to get her attention... To nothing in particular. He soon flied off into the skies once more, leaving Linnea to her thoughts as she soon reached a small pond in the middle of the island. It looked like a small pond anyway, the clear waters were only completely transparent up to a few meters away and the ranger didn't really feel like leaving it up to chance and finding the depth out for herself: If it turned out to be too deep, she wouldn't be able to get back out and her adventure would end there. Devil fruits can truly be troublesome things... So, she looked up into the skies once more to spot her purple feathery partner - who apparently had yet to find anything worth looting - before finally taking a deep breath, stretching, and then sitting at the edge of the pond. As she verified earlier, this was already enough to rob her of her Devil fruit abilities... But she wasn't the least bit worried about that for now. In this crearing as she was, she once more felt enthralled by the prospect of laying down on the wet sand and relaxing under the steamy tropical sun... Laying down, she rested her hands on her arms, closed her eyes, and shut out all senses aside from her Haki.

But then she felt a big presence nearby... Inside yet another lake...

"JYOOOO!", Sengoku squaked urgently, circling the around the lake... Apparently, he too had sensed something concerning nearby.

Linnea couldn't rest like this... Something about this aura made her uneasy... Even someone as cool and collected as her couldn't survive thus far from being a fearless daredevil, no; one had to acknowledge their fear and defeat it. And that is exactly what she prepared to do now. The shape of this aura reminded her of a crocodile. But a crocodile here?! How deep was this damned lake? With the water this clear, she could see the bottom from where she was standing, but it still went on for a good while. The tide had risen a good bit after all. Linnea took two steps back, freeing herself from the hold of the smothering sea water as this creature's overwhelming bloodlust was coming over to her. She could sense other presences. Before long she could see it, but she barely had any time to assess what she saw, as the massive crocodile lept at her, jaws agape, ready to turn her into next meal.

The hunter's eyes widened as she only had time to register one thing: It was fast! Dodging the massive creature with a somersault to the side, Linnea swiped her hand at it twice, shooting two needles at its head. But it wasn't enough! The colossal reptile wailed in pain as one of the arrows gouged out his eye, half blinding him, but that still wasn't enough to stop it. It quickly swiped her tail under her feet, and seeing the attack coming, Linnea leapt high up into the air and fired three more needles. Still not enough! The croc quickly turned around, and thats when Linnea finally had time to notice the banana on its head! A Banana croc, here?! This was gonna be troublesome. It opened its mouth wide once more, as if getting ready to recieve the falling Linnea in its jaws... She wouldn't let it though... Hardening her legs with Haki, she stomped right onto its open mouth, instantly releasing a freezing wave of cold: Winter's Grasp combined with Ice Lock.

Its head frozen, it was only a matter of stomping the creature's jaws and shattering its skull with her Haki imbued feet, messily killing it... But this revealed an oversight: The creature's jaws were partly over the water at this point, and with them shattered, her feet dipped into the lake. It wasn't too much, but it robbed her ability to use her fruit, and the sudden loss of power startled Linnea, causing her to fall back with a loud splash!

"S-shit...!", she muttered frantically as her immobile body slowly sank into the water, into the deep blue to the saltwater lake

If she somehow survived this, she'd make a mental note never to fight on the water's edge so carelessly again... Even from under the water she could hear her brave feathery partner's desperate cries, hopeful that someone would come to aid his pirate friend. But who could hear him like this...?
