1 James Lubbock Jr. on Thu Mar 17, 2016 6:31 pm

Kibo Yamanaka

Name: James Lubbock Jr.
Alias/Epithet: Junior
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Age: 18
Mode: Hard

Description of Modes:

Easy Mode: Easy Mode is for people who have no major interest in their characters dying. You have access to private topics, maims turn into severe bruising that inhibit the use of the damaged body part for the rest of the thread, what would normally cause deaths turn into your character simply being knocked out. However, everything isn't good for you, this also means that your character will never be able to pass Tier 3.

  • Exceptions to these Rules: Should you attack someone on Hard Mode with killing, crippling, injuring, or maiming intent OOC or IC, you lose your Easy Mode protection and may have the same done to you. May it be killed, maimed, injured, etc as long it is the same intention.

  • You cannot make private travel threads, but they can still be No Kill due to your Easy Mode Protection.

  • Also, there are also events which your character will be at risk if you choose to enter them.

  • Lastly your character can be vulnerable to death if you will it.

Hard Mode: This is for people willing to take more of a risk for more of a reward. In this mode you can reach up to T6, and there are other things available to you, like world positions. However, your character is always death enabled. A hard mode person is not allowed to make a "No Kill" thread or a Private thread. Their whole existence is open. Hard Mode is to promote a more realistic One Piece Roleplay-verse and while people are eligible to die while on Hard Mode, our aim here is not to make this a place where people meaninglessly kill. Hard Mode is introduced to promote interactive RP where people value there allies and teammates. Hard Mode is for an experience closer to Canon.

  • Exceptions to these Rules: If you are situated on your island, or your ship, you are permitted to make a private thread between you and crew members. HOWEVER, you cannot make a private travel thread on your ship, you are still at risk of invasion in those threads.

  • Protection for Private Topics on your Ship can last for a duration of 15 IC Post, afterwards the topic is Open whether you are on the ship, setting sail, etc.

Changing Modes: Changing modes is also possible if you start out a character, and realize the mode you chose does not really suit you. Unfortunately, to prevent people making the first choice without thought, or using easy mode to their advantage getting as high as they can with Easy Mode, and jumping to Hard Mode, there are penalties to both sides changing modes.

  • Easy Mode Penalties: If you're on Easy Mode, and you change to hard mode, you are bumped down an entire tier, and will have to build your way back up. Anything spent on something you cannot have anymore because of tier problems, (You were T3 with a T3 only sword, and you've been knocked down to T2), will be refunded.
  • Hard Mode Penalties: If you choose to jump to Easy Mode, you get everything taken from you that is Hard Mode only, and a tier down.

Finally, there is only one difficulty change someone can go through ever. There will be no chance to buy/trade/sell/casino a difficulty change if you decide you want to change back, ever. So make all of your choices carefully.

Occupation: Primary: Historian Secondary: Martial Artist
Affiliation: Marine
Tier: 1

General Appearance:
James Lubbock Jr.:
James has a somewhat skinny but muscular build with a six pack and light skin. He has light green hair that reaches down to his shoulder with a bang that covers his left eye and eyes that match the color of his hair with thin green eyebrows. He wears red goggles and a long dark green zipper less coat that reaches down to his thighs with a white fur collar. Under the coat he either wears a white t-shirt  with a red ring around the top, blue skinny jeans and brown dress shoes or a full navy uniform minus the hat. He wears red fingerless gloves with almost all of his attires.

Height: 5'5"
Weight: 120lb
Crew Tattoo Placement: Would be on the center of his back.

Personality: Laid back, charismatic or at least he thinks himself to be. helpful, surprisingly knowledgeable and always ready for a fight are a few things that can describe this fresh new marine officer. Even though he is very knowledgeable, James will still have his moments of simple mindedness when it comes to certain things but he holds his knowledge of various islands and people with pride. He also likes to take it easy from time to time when he isn't training. Just lay back and enjoy the simple things in life. He can also be a bit immature and attempt to pull pranks on his fellow crewmates and others he is close to from time to time.

When it comes to women, this could be considered one of his greatest weaknesses. He may claim himself to be charismatic and knows a lot about women, but he comes off more as a pervert than anything else due to his father. James is the type of person to be caught peeking at women's bath houses or with a stash of dirty magazines and is famous for his "accidental" fondling and gazing. He will also come off as chivalrous as well and is type of person to treat little girls like princesses and would never harm a female unless absolutely necessary.

He may come off "a little" perverted, but James is still a good hearted character who can be quite destructive at times. Whenever there is someone in need and he knows about, James will jump in and do whatever he can to fix the problem, from helping a little girl get her cat from a tree to taking down a mob who is harassing a low class family. He holds his duties as a marine high and with pride just like his knowledge.

James may sound courageous, but even the most courageous of people aren't without fear. Claustrophobia found its way into James' life due to those who use to bully him as a child, constantly locking him in an abandoned basement type area for long periods of time. He will not freak out when in a small space, but will rather freeze up and remain silent until someone pulls him out. He also has a fear of dying before reaching his goals and being recognized even though that doesn't stop him from being reckless. What he fears the most is not being strong enough to protect those he cares for and having to sit back helplessly watching them die which is the main reason why he pushes himself.

In battles, James is skilled in hand to hand combat, specializing with gloves that have metal claws on them that have the potential to do some earth shattering techniques. He isn't all brute though. He reads his opponents attacks from u close or a far and uses what he learns to strike, counter, dodge or defend.

James also admires the marine commodore, Anton La'croix and claims him to be one of the primary reasons he joined the marines after the heroic feats he witnessed him do. The other reason is that he wants to be someone who can truly be depended on which helped draw him to the Navy.

  • Taking it easy is one of the things James enjoys doing. He just loves to sit back and enjoy the simple things in life.

  • He also has a thing for women which is a trait he got from his father.

  • James also likes to train from time to time so he can keep fit so he could protect those he cherish.

  • Also loves to take risks. Enjoys the rush he gets from doing such.

  • James isn't a big fan of being bossed around unless it's by a few select people or when absolutely necessary. He prefers to do things his own way.

  • He also gets very annoyed of those who love to boast and believe they are better than everyone else even though he may do the same from time to time.

  • What sets him off the most are people who pick on and harass others that are weak. He isn't afraid to speak his mind to people who do that or get violent.

History: James Lubbock Jr. was born on Baterilla Island in the South Blue to James Lubbock Sr. and Hope Lubbock. They had a pretty comfortable life on this island. The father worked as a shipwright and the mother worked at a bakery and there was nothing to complain about, except for Lubbock Sr. and his tendency to gawk at women from time to time, but it didn't mean he didn't love her. It was just a trait most guys have and would soon pass on to Lubbock Jr.

At the age of five, Lubbock Jr. would first attend school which he was frighten about, but who wouldn't be? A lot of kids are afraid about going to school for the first time, but it usually ends up being a fun experience. This isn't one of those moments however. Lubbock Jr. would be constantly bullied by the bigger kids because of his green hair which would result in him being locked in this basement like area that was nothing but a very cramped windowless room constantly. He would panic and begin to breathe heavily, trying to claw his way out desperately like anyone else with claustrophobia. He would tell his parents of this almost every time who would then tell the teachers, but it seemed to just always end up in a loop that didn't do much but annoy the bullies more. Soon, Lubbock Jr. would stop panicking when getting trapped in the basement like area and would just freeze up possibly to unconsciously keep himself from losing oxygen from the panic attacks, but the claustrophobia stuck to him for the rest of his life.

Much to the mother's displeasure, Lubbock Sr. would teach his son how to fight since the school didn't want to take any big enough actions to stop this, but it would be pointless due to Lubbock Jr.'s frail body. He would continue to get bullied until a girl by the name of Mei who was seven, two years older than Lubbock Jr. jumped in to help him. She was a new student who came from a far away land of people that were skilled fighters and made little work out of those bullies to the point that they would never mess with Lubbock Jr. again. The two became quick friends and would always be seen together. One day, the two would begin to talk about dreams and hobbies. Lubbock Jr. told Mei that he didn't have any hobbies, but he would like to be someone helpful like she was to him. Mei would then nod and say that she wants to be someone who can help anyone as well. She also dreams of being a famous historian who knows everything about anything. Lubbock Jr. who believed that was amazing as well decided that he would do that as well which would result in them agreeing that they will do it together when they grow up. Unfortunately, that day would never happen.

Lubbock Jr. who is now ten and Mei who is twelve, were always together to the point that others would tease them, saying that they were boyfriend and girlfriend which Lubbock Jr. would  always fluster up, complaining that they weren't only for Mei to teasingly say they were much to Lubbock Jr's embarrassment. They had many good times together, sharing laughs and things that the discovered in history. Lubbock Jr. even became a lot more outgoing because of her but all these good times would end one day when Mei suddenly collapsed while she was with Lubbock Jr. at school. She was quickly sent to a hospital where she was diagnosed with a incurable illness that was slowly eating away her insides without a sign or feeling.

Mei's body would grow weak each day. Lubbock Jr. would go to visit her at the hospital everyday, bringing with him books, flowers and various other things, keeping her company for hours, believing that she would get better and that they would still get to fulfill their dreams together. This has been going on for five years. One day, Lubbock Jr. now at the age of fifteen was going to go to the hospital to see the seventeen year old Mei, but was stopped to find out that she passed away the other night after he left. Lubbock Jr. began to shake violently and fell to his knees, crying uncontrollably. All of the things he wanted to do with her, all of the things he wanted to talk to her about, their shared dream, crushed. Lubbock Jr. would then fall into a coma from shock for one year.

A year has finally passed and soon Lubbock Jr. who is now sixteen would wake up to his parents sleeping on the chairs beside his hospital bed. The two would wake and welcome him with hugs. Lubbock Jr. was a bit confused about what happened and would ask how Mei is feeling, being in denial about her death. It took awhile, but soon Lubbock Jr. came to accept the death of his only friend, which drove him more to fulfill the dreams that the two had. Another year has passed and the now seventeen year old Lubbock Jr. would help his father with his shipwright job. Everything seemed to have been going well, Lubbock Jr.'s mother was a few months pregnant with a boy, meaning that Lubbock Jr. would have someone to teach everything he knows to, Lubbock Jr. and his father got along at work, and even shared moments of gawking at women that came by. Lubbock Jr. even got more muscular from this job. He's been also having talks with his father about joining the marines to further his dreams, but wasn't entirely sure if it was the way to go.

Soon, Lubbock Jr. and his family would get a free invitation to a cruise that the father had helped make throughout the years called, The Grand Maiden. The family was all excited about this, they never had the money or opportunity to go on such a trip and to have one given to them for free was a hard to say no offer. They would soon get on the cruise, but the only thing waiting for them would be disaster.

All seemed peaceful at first. The passengers and Nobles aboard seemed to have been having a good time including the Lubbock family, but the cruise would soon get bombarded with cannons and pirates began to flood the ship, killing and robbing tons of people. Lubbock Jr. was separated from his parents at the time and desperately looked for them while ducking the pirates every way he can. While Lubbock Jr. was hiding, he caught a glimpse of the marine commander that was in charge of protecting this ship take down a lot of these pirates. He watched in amazement and secretly followed him around, almost forgetting about looking for his parents until he heard a faint sound of crying coming from one of the ship's rooms.

Lubbock Jr. followed the crying to see if there was anyone in need of help, but was met with a gruesome sight. His father was there, crying his eyes out with someone in his hands. That person in his hands was Lubbock Jr.'s mother with multiple stab wounds on her body including the stomach. the father would turn around to see his son who was growing teary eyed as well. Lubbock Jr. stood there staring for what felt like hours. First Mei, now his mother and unborn brother? Lubbock Jr. didn't cry himself into a coma like before. He instead got furious to the point that he picked up a metal pipe and ran out of the room to attack the pirates. There was nothing but pure rage in his light green eyes. But when he got out, they were all defeated. More marines were on the cruise, taking up any survivors. Lubbock Jr. would soon learn that the entire cruise was saved by that marine commander who fought bravely.

For a short time, Lubbock Jr. would despise this Marine Commander for not being able to save his mother and brother, but due to some time and comfort from his father, he would calm down, knowing that it wasn't the Marine's fault. Lubbock Jr. learned of this Marine's name. Anton La'croix, that name stuck to Lubbock Jr.'s mind like super glue. He began to look up to this Marine Commander who soon became a Commodore and was able to make his decision to join the Marines the following year to help out others more just like the Commodore did, and so that he could one day meet him.
